Hey, how do they know that changing the Earth's orbit in this manner would only have beneficial effects like stopping global warming? What if too many people jump and the earth falls into the sun or flies off into deep space? I'm deeply concerned that these people may not have thought this through very well!

I'm just trying to remember where I heard something like this recently, and then I remembered it's a Futurama episode where all the Robots burp at once to shift the earth so as to reduce global warming.
