Fast animation

I recently patched due to some bugs that were getting in the way of the game. It seems that one of the changes in the patch was to remove a framerate cap on the animations. Now whenever I move a ship or fire a weapon, it all happens in a blur. Is there a way to adjust the animation speed? I admit the original speed was a bit slow but I'd still like to see things happen and not just jump from beginning to end.
