Default Only 120mm for smoke firing?

Well, I have played WinMBT since it's release and during almost every battle I have seen only "120mm firing smoke" announce (I mean AI's side). Seems like seldom more "heavier" artillery (let's say 105/122mm) fire smoke ammution... Are just javelins meant to use smoke granades in this game? Do I remember wrong but I have heard that "heavy/medium" artillery uses smoke as well even today... I must admit that I have not "tested" this in attack/defend battles (I like to play meeting engagements), so I'm not sure do AI use smoke with artillery too ...

Any comments?

I've had the AI use smoke from a variety of systems, but it usually prefers to use its heavier artillery to pound me rather than waste its shots on creating smoke screens when it has mortars and batteries of 75/105mm howitzers for this job.

I remember seeing IA using offmap arty to lay smoke at least in the early turns of an (AI) assault.
Possibly too during meeting engagements, when the IA has uncovered a possible line of attack, but then rather sporadically.
