SE4 deluxe
I was at the MM site, looking for release info on SE5, and I saw a patch for (supposedly) all previous versions of SE4, to bring it up to "Space Empires Deluxe, V1.95"
So I was wondering, is anybody playing this on PBW?

Re: SE4 deluxe
Maybe we should have a "What is SE4 Deluxe?" sticky thread.

Re: SE4 deluxe
There is no "supposedness" about it, the (1.93) patch does patch all versions of SE4 up to 1.93, which you can then patch to 1.95 with the 1.93 to 1.95 patch.

Re: SE4 deluxe
Actually it's the 1.94 patch, not 1.93

Re: SE4 deluxe
Actually, gentlemen, there are 3 patches.
One to patch Deluxe 1.94 to 1.95
One to patch Deluxe 1.93 to 1.94
One to patch any old version of SE4, Classic or Gold, to Deluxe 1.94.
Which means that, despite never having bought SE4 Gold, I can now patch my classic SE4 to the latest version \0/
But, gentlemen, you didn't answer my original question - is anybody actually playing this on PBW?
Hmm, I wonder what the *&^%#* the password was on my old account? No chance of recovering it if I can't recall it; I'm sure my email addy has changed since then.

And the answer, to reiterate what Kwok said:
Gold and Deluxe are the same thing. The only major difference is the publisher's packaging.

Re: SE4 deluxe
That's not quite true... there are several bugfixes in Deluxe that are not present in Gold. Savegames between the two are compatible (1.91 and any of 1.93-1.95), but the game exes are not identical.
Possum:
Some mods have to be processed with Deluxe to bypass certain bugs in Gold (like seeker targetting seeker issues), but such games can still be played with Gold 1.91 (not anything earlier, of course).
