Map Bat-Loc for southern Lebanon
Hi,
What would be a good code to input into the map generator to simulate southern Lebanon?

Re: Map Bat-Loc for southern Lebanon
Well, if you set up Israel vs Lebanon in the Map Editor it defaults to BatLoc Map #38. Generating a few random maps it appears to be a "fairly" good representation of that area. Thats what I would go with if it was me.

Re: Map Bat-Loc for southern Lebanon
If you set up either Lebanon vs Israel or Lebanon vs Syria then , click on the "view map" button, then, when the new screen appears click on the "Redraw a new default map for these opponenets" button you will be presented with a wide variety of batloc maps to choose from including 38 but also, 33, 32, 195, 190, 12 etc etc
Keep in mind that you need to be set up with the two opponents you want to see the map for to see the correct map some of those batlocs are used for other nations in other ways so a map 38 with Lebanon and Israel as the opponents will look entirley different if you have USA and Russian set up as the opponents.

Re: Map Bat-Loc for southern Lebanon
Also, you have to remember that a batloc number is just a starting point (template) for the map code. No. 38 at one point is not the same as No. 38 in another as it could be tweaked somehow (e.g location name is changed, a normally green map is used for desert or the urbanisation, tree cover, swamps etc changed) - see the map generator screen which has variables you can tweak. Season, dates etc also make differences, far too varied to list, you can really only experiment to find the possibilities.
Also - a few respins of the same batloc code can be worthwhile to see if it turns up a nicer random map as well. (streams and marshes may turn up or not at the code's convenience, for example)
Game Guide - Map Generator Screen refers.
Cheers

The map generator is a very helpful and powerful tool in this game.
One of the things I do to get my base maps is set the date and nations, then "Edit" the map. I go into the map editor and cycle through the generated maps, usually setting Urbanization and some other things to "0" to keep those buildings, roads and other terrain like that out of the base map. This method frequently provides a nice clean topo map without the buildings, roads and other things that I will want to add in manually.
Once I have a base map I like, I save it and tweak it manually adding in the building roads and roads to make it unique.
After a while you start to get a good feel for what settings will generate what type of maps and it make the process much easier and the maps look a lot nicer as you gain experience doing this.
