Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you should be able to build as many holy troops in your home province as you have white candles there. I'm playing Ermor-Early at Urraparrand. I've got 7-dominion in my home province, but I can still only build 5 holy troops.
Have I found a bug?

Re: Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
The amount of troops you can build is determined by your starting dominion *score* not the actual dominion you have in a province.
You can also recruit +1 more holy troop for every 5 temples you build.

Also remember that you may not have enough gold in your treasury or resources in that province even if you have enough dominion and that can limit your recruitment as well.

Re: Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
Thanks. Rereading those entries in the manual, you're right, it says it's limited to you Maximum Dominion, which is as you defined it.
But it also says that the maximum dominion you can have in any province is also limited to that same formula. So, how is it that I have 7 white candles?
Thanks again.

Re: Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
Have you built temples?
If (for example) you started at pretender design with a dominion score of 6 and then build 4 additional temples (for a total of 5) in game, your new dominion max will become 7.

Re: Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
It is possible for your dominion to exceed you maximum dominion.
I have an MP game in which I have dominion 7 in a besieged enemy
capital, while my maximum dominion is 5. I started at five, and
have less than five temples, including the original one.
Probably a bug, but a fact nevertheless.

Re: Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
It's early and I only have a couple temples + my initial dominion of 5.
Thanks for the confirmation Tuidjy. I guess I can still hold on to the distinction between being retarded and practically retarded.

Re: Possible Bug in Urraparrand???
_Preaching_ can exceed your base dominion strength in a specific province, but temple spread won't. So someone with Holy-3, for example, can preach a province up to 6 candles, or 7 with a temple there, no matter what your base dominion strength is.
Also, dominion spread (from temples, pretender, prophet, home province) that can't raise the dominion in a province, will flow out to a province that it can raise. That's how non-stealthy priests can indirectly help to push dominion out to foreign lands (they max out the home dominion, allowing the temples etc. to spread it to foreign provinces).

Which is how I win a lot of my SP games -- I stuff temples in every province, and watch my wave of dominion sweep over the world.
