New Map: 3Isles
3 Isles is a series of 3 maps:
It has 85+X provinces. This is the first of the maps:
There is one version with very low water, one with more water and one with a lot of water provinces.
I made the map with: http://gryc.ws/autorealm.htm
It's free, easy to use and did the main job with this map.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
Thanks for the map. I will certainly play this from time to time.
some comments:
I dont understand the logic of the Endless Sea being so huge. It kind of makes it hard playing a water nation. It could be divided into at least 3. And it does not have connections to all teh provinces it touches. It makes it very confusing.
Its too big to be so small. That becomes a problem when I have to zoom out to see all my territories in the first part of the game, when i only have 5. It could be shrunk by half, IMHO. Or double the number of provinces.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
I'll go through the simple process of downloading it and checking it out. And get back to you with feedback a bit later. I am glad to see another map enter the arena.
I really do appreciate it when the first post about a new map lists the number of provinces. I'm often looking for a certain sized map, and it speeds things up greatly.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
Thanks for the featback.
It's not fractal enough to contain twice as much provinces but scaling the map sounds like a good idea
Sea .... I guess I somewhat hung up between forbitting water-nations all together and ... not.
I had to realise that 3 Islands on one map have a lot of coastline alltogether. Now I like sailors and Amphibious raids and that but should I sopport water nations, then they have a clear advantage this way or another because:
-Either each water province would have far to much coast each,
-or there are uncompareably many water provinces, like 1 per land province.
I think I might remove the endless Sea alltogether, or I will in fact add a few (lot) more water provinces (or make two versions).

Re: New Map: 3Isles
Fewer water provinces actually makes the water nations stronger in play. They can watch more land provinces with fewer large armies, and easily take advantage of things going on there.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
Desert Eye is a surprisingly wet map. If you want to make more water provinces, you might try miniature islands like the 'Forbidden Isle' in that map. They'll give a strategic stepping stone for sailing nations.
Anyways, I've had a really interesting time playing Late Era Atlantis on Desert Eye. You should check out that map/nation if you want some ideas for water provinces, and aquatic/sailing.
If I was making a water heavy version, i'd at the very most triple the number of provinces. I'd probably go for less, but I'd have to fidget with a few playthroughs before I'd settle on something.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
Update: Zoom corrected and I made a second, water-heavy version. The first now has a few more "No start" locations, including all the water.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
I've looked at the water heavy map in Paint.net... Not the game, though I will when I can.
I like it, but have a couple of thoughts to throw out- though they are just brainstorms, not carefully considered. Take them with a grain of sea salt
One, connect all the port cities via whatever map command or something.
On the eastern continent, on in the inside of the 'C', the sea provinces are too small for sailing. If you took the area covered by those three small provinces and made it only two sea provinces, perhaps divided on that forest province, it would make sailing a useful to that area, where currently, the north and south shores can only sail one province's distance. If you want three provinces, then maybe just move the northern line to match up with the farmlands? and the southern just a bit above the river. On the other hand, there's no reason people _have_ to be able to sail there, but the mountains would make it rather hard to approach that area from the south.
Between the north and south western islands, there are three provinces they can sail over. Between the north west island and the easter island, theres only one province to and from which they can sail, which makes it more defensible. The same for the southwest and eastern.
Now if I miss something because I'm only looking at the image file... I'll find out around midnight.

Re: New Map: 3Isles
About the Port-connections:
In the inner area, the northern two ports are connected with each other and the two southern are connected, too. That's why it isn't to necessary to sail over this, too.
The outer 3 ports are connected as a triangle.
