Recomended SP Victory Settings?
Just wondering if any of the pros have some suggestions on good SP victory settings for noobs trying to learn some of the basics. I want to be able to play a game that does not drag on forever so I have enough time to experiment with the different nations but lasts long enough to forge decent items, research some cool spells, and get a flavor for the pros and cons of each nation. Any thoughts on maps / victory settings would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Recomended SP Victory Settings?
I would not use victory settings, just play until you think that you have won, or the game does not interest you. (there is nothing really fancy, when you have won a game)
I would take a map with around 100 provinces and 4 enemys, so you should be able to play some time. If you take bigger maps, there will either be a lot of provinces per player, or you have to take more enemys, what will make the turn resolution very long.

I would agree with Hadrian. I usually play until the end (cause I am OCD), but winning a game is incredibly anticlimactic (basically, a box that says "You win" and then POOF!, you are back at the desktop). Absolutely no reward for seeing the game through to the end.

Re: Recomended SP Victory Settings?
They zre right about not finishing games, There was a poll a few months ago and IIRC 90% of players responded that they do not finish games.
But if you want to try victory points, here is my formula. Not claiming this is ideal, it is just what I developed and use. (I don't finish games either, unless they are on a very small map.)
One single point victory province per 20 provinces on the map. One victory point for capitols. Victory condition 33% to 40% of the sum of victory points. The 2 and 3 point victory provinces should only be set up for modded maps in my opinion. When you set up VP conditions you do get to find all capitols merely by the VP markers, a small bonus.

I'd say VP condition and then anywhere between 50-60 % of the VP..
