Giants can\'t trample?
Hi All,
Just something I've observed - if Pan's Minotaurs can trample, why can't giants??
A big criticism of the giant's faction forces are their lack of offense vs other nations. Wouldn't giving them all trample go somewhere towards fixing this?

They never bother to train melee. They just rush in with horns first.

This is the first time that I've heard anyone claim that.

Re: Giants can\'t trample?
Trampling is a way of attacking by intentionally crushing opponents with the body, not just a factor of being big.
What probably matters more for a trampler is a certain disregard for pain and personal safety. As opponents tend to have sharp pointy weapons of their own, charging in and using sheer body mass to kill them probably involves a lot of pain via incidental cuts, and the chance of getting isolated, surrounded and cut down. So reasonably, although many giants could trample smaller creatures, they find the experience sufficiently unpleasant that they'd rather swat them with oversize weaponry instead.

Re: Giants can\'t trample?
I have to start by saying that I dislike the trampling mechanics of Dominions
more than any other part of the game. There are too many nations that have no
counter to it, and there are a few problems that make it very unbalancing (chief
among these is that damage is based on the trampler's size as opposed to the size
difference between the two units) When you see an ice elemental merrily trampling
Niefel Jarls whose waist it barely reaches, you'll know what I mean.
That said, trampling on giants is not necessarily a boon. Trampling on some
giants would be a huge improvement that giant nations simply do not need, as they
are strong enough already. Trampling on all giants would be a nerf that
would cripple giants as far as I am concerned, because in mid/late game, a trampling
commander is at a huge disadvantage against a non-trampling one.
