Default AT-Rifle too deadly?

I recently was playing a battle june 1940, brits delay germans, my AT rifles where real deadly, about 10 panzers destroyed by at rifles, and i just thought, shouldnt at rifle be more damaging than "killing" the vehicles, IIRC, theyr effect was little on armor, maybe killing the engine, a crew member, damaging something, but rendering a tank ineffective with a single shot is quite unfair, can its kill-ness be reduced?

Ran a quick test, ATRs vs. PzIVA (all-round "2" armor), one PTRD firing at each from 2 hexes, after 4-5 hits the Panzers damaged, but none destroyed, none immobilised.
Was on a small sample, but still.

You killed some Panzers with a Boys AT rifle? I think MMs all round are warranted here!

weird, i usually get destroyed tanks, thats the random modifier maybe?or the guy firing it was lucky

IMHO the Boys is well modelled in the game.

However, the PIAT seems to be a little inaccurate. The pentration is correct, and it was sensibly brought down to 100yd range in the last release, but at that range it could hit a one meter square 9 out of 10 times. I'm assuming that was on a firing range.

Shouldn't the PIAT be more accurate than all its rocket propelled counter-parts?

As it stands, I'm tempted to just buy Boys rifles which can at least hit and supress a tank, sometimes damage.
A PIAT often misses even at 50m!!! I thought the PIAT guys often held fire until at 50 m so they couldn't miss. May as well use a Hawkins mine.

I could be wrong about the PIAT. It may just be an impression. I think I'll do a test. :-)

yeah, PIAT and Panzerfaust are quite inaccurate, and the boys atr, can button up enemy tanks, even on 1944 i still had some boys atr simlply to button up enemy armor, and if lucky a damaging hit

.50 is better for buttoning up

Now what would be interesting: 14.5mm machinegun in WW2. Twin KPV was even planned armament of an AA variant of T-80 light tank, but it was cancelled with war's end.
Also say Halftracks with 15mm BESA might be nice pre-IFVs.

I love the BTRs with the KPV 14.5 im MBT - excellent things for dealing with M113 class enemy APC, ferrets etc and giving long range fire support on grunts (no buttoning if shot at like 12.7AAMG), a coax for short range beefing up of fires).

In WW2 I like to have a pair of light tanks with the 15 BESA as close support for each rifle coy. Excellent for hosing down enemy infantry for the same reasons as the post war BTRs and marginally useful for dealing with the Italian tankettes. However they have to hide with pride" against anything with any serious AT capability - German scout cars with 20mm, Italian stuff with the 47, and real tanks. So a pair or platoon of Matilda 2 or Valentines is also needed in close support of each rifle coy.

The Boyes is rather useless - any rifle sections with thse I translate to something with an LMG and rifle grenades till PIAT comes available.

The PTRS/D ATR is a rather hot weapon. It can deal with Nazi tanks class 3 side armour at 100-150 metres if it gets the full 6 shots when stationary and it gets very lucky. Then the rest of the platoon usually notice and exterminate it. So useful as expendable support troops but not in the core.

Humber A/Cs or Light Tanks MkVIC are always in my Core: nothing better for dealing with ATGs at long range.

And if playing PBEM against the Nazis they get a lovely surprise when their 88s and soft-skin half-tracks get chewed up at long range!
