Default The never ending war

Why is It that when you get in to a war it so hard to make peace I've have ben fighting a war for now over 200 game turnes. Every time I ask for peace they turn me down. no one is wining and I offer them all that I think is reasonable, A planet, ship, resoures, and even a system But I allways get turn down. Has anyone ever got a peace proposal acceped ?????

what makes it even more frustrating is that half the time they have a brotherly attitude toward you. I hate when this sort of thing happens. If they have a bad attitude toward you fine stay at war, but if the love you then why don't they make peace? I know there is some thing with waiting 40 turns or something (at least i think thats what it is) where if there are no battles with the other empire for 40 turns they will be more likely to make peace. Someone verify that or am just completely wrong here?

AIs won't accept any treaty for some time after a declaration of war. I'm not sure about the timeframe (couple years?), but battles do not extend the time. DO beware of intel ops, since someone else could be sending fake DoW from you, and thus extending the no-treaty time.

If you really want peace, fight stalemates. AIs seem to like stalemates, and the original ones at least will become friendlier.
Sending an escort against an enemy colony will do the trick.

Once they are friendly, all you can do is keep asking for treaties. Offering treaty trades is probably not worth it, just go for a straight treaty offer, and let the AI know there are no strings attached.

If all else fails, use WP manip to close all warppoints between your empires, cutting contact, and then reopen them.
You can start from a clean slate.

The timeframe how long each race will not make peace depends on the race and can be set in the AI files (politics). Typical values are 12 turns or 20 turns.

That's because in the AI Anger files, most races are set to stalemates = 0, so the normal anger decrease over time kicks in. I just checked seven races at random, and only one of them got upset about stalemates.
