Standart, how effective ?
Lets say i have an army of 50 units with a morale of 10 and access to standard-beariers (5).
How many should be used to get the most effect out of them ?
How many if the standard value is 15 instead ?

Re: Standart, how effective ?
the # is the aoe of the standerd effect. standard raises morale of units inside its aoe. so 15 is an aoe 15 morale boost around the unit

Re: Standart, how effective ?
Well that kind of sucks, because whenever i mix a couple of standard effects into my army, they all show up in one bunch instead of mixing mixed among the army.
What is the morale boost ? +1 per turn per standard ?

According to the manual (page 57):
+1 morale boost for each full +10 standard the unit's exposed to. Morale boosted by standards will be lowered by 1 per round and can never exceed +5. But is that only when the unit's no longer exposed to the standard (i.e., within the standards' AoE) or even while it is?

Re: Standart, how effective ?
I'd assume it doesn't start lowering until no longer exposed. Or possibly, lowers but then is boosted again. AoE probably shifts around each turn.
I'd assume the +5 limit applies to the cumulative effect of multiple standards.
Though a morale bonus is always nice, where they're really effective is against fear. If a unit's morale has been lowered, a standard will keep boosting it back up until it's back up to base + standard effect.

Re: Standart, how effective ?
I understanded that standard bonus will be lowered each turn.
so unit which had a +2 morale bonus one turn after will have a +1

Re: Standart, how effective ?
As I understand it:
A unit near a +50 standard will have a +5 morale bonus continuously. When the standard gets out of range/dies, the unit loses 1 morale per turn until it reaches its normal morale.

Re: Standart, how effective ?
So what are the benefits of a +5 standard then? Do you still get +1 morale at least?

Re: Standart, how effective ?
I'd imagine you need atleast two of the +5 standards to give the +1 morale.

Re: Standart, how effective ?
A little testing with the Bretonnia mod shows that the manual is, how shall we say, wrong. I took a group of 8 lesser knights (standard 1) and monitored their morale against indies. From the look of things even a standard of 1 is capable of raising a unit's morale, so Frozen Lama is right as far as I can tell. The morale of some knights did drop at times, presumably when they were too far away from other standards to keep their morale levels up.
Interestingly, in a larger test with ~30 of the same unit, I noticed that the morale bonuses seemed to go to the first unit in a given square first, and then it trickled down. I.E. the first unit might have 20 morale, the second 19, and the third 18. This was consistent until the fighting started and things began dying, I'm assuming due to the shuffling effect of units moving forward to fill the gaps. I'm not sure if morale is capable of filling completely at this point on all units in a single square, as they did not appear to be doing so in my tests. To figure that out I'd want to play with more and larger standards.
At no time did anyone's morale go above +5.
