Question about stealth
Hi,
I did not find subjects about my question, so I am writing a new thread.
I am playing Vanheim in MA, this is my fourth mp game, and the first stealthed nation I tried.
Is there any difference between sneaking and moving in friendly territory ? If an army is sneaking/hiding in a friendly province, I guess it will not defend that province if attacked. But if moving in a friendly province, would the army be stealthed/glamoured the same way ?
In addition, is there any trick I may not get abouth stealth ?

Re: Question about stealth
The manual for the most part goes over all the basics regarding stealth.
Stealth armies move just like spies. Only the commander and all troops under his command must have stealth. Default movement is "stealth," and you have to hold shift or ctrl (can't remember which off the top of my head, I only seem to know by muscle memory) to move "non-stealthed." Moving without stealth means the army will participate in any military conflicts that occur, or outright attack if moved to an enemy province.
Also, a free tip for MA Vanheim. Skinshifters (though 25% more expensive than their Late Age counterparts) are still the best unit Vanheim has.

Your guess is right.

While moving in friendly province stealthy units become visible for enemy and take part in possible battles. Glamour units are always hidden from the eyes of the enemy whatever they do.

Re: Question about stealth
Thanks a lot, that is exactly what I wanted to know.
I cannot figure out why the Skinshifters are so much popular. That is 25g for 25 hp and a great sword. There is so much good troops in every nation, not to mention sacred units with good blesses.

Re: Question about stealth
Skin shifter has a 2nd form with 20 hp and 3 attacks at 13 attack skill! I believe shifting forms in combat due to death has a chance to heal afflictions.
So it would actually be a 33 hp unit with weird recuperation, regen to cut down afflictions, amazing 2nd form attack, it does have low prot but gold/resource wise its excellent value, and give you room to take some sloth scales.
You do want to watch out when fighting high prot units though, its 2nd form rapid attack does lowish damage and could run into trouble with heavy prot units (Ulm, Abysia). It's 1st form does do well against high prot though but dies too quickly.
That's not to say Vans or Valkyries are bad when you have some decent bless for them.
