Question ON-Turn or AFTER-Turn?

I have some simple questions that could be explained with experience but I'm afraid my memory is betraying me after a long absence from Steel Panthers, and thus to make sure:

How does the game determine some important attributes to units like terrain effects, skill/command influence, and rallying range. Is it effected right on that turn, or, on the next turn.

Example:
On one particular turn, I move a squad (without radio) 8 hexes away from his "comrades" to a building hex and right in there he is engaged by the enemy.

1. Does this squad has the building-hex' cover (not concealment, that's obvious) adding to the unit's protection from enemy fire on that very turn, i.e the instant the squad sit there?

2. If I should rally this squad, will it receive any rallies from its superior 8 hexes away right in that turn? That is, considering that non-radio contact is 3-4 hexes.

3. Will this unit receive skill/command influence (inf command, arty command, armor command) from his comrades 8 hexes away on that very turn in engaging the enemy? Again, considering that non-radio contact is 3-4 hexes.

Thank you very much for your time reading and answering this.

Cheers, RightDeve.

1) protection applies one you are in the hex
- but most protection is better when it has achieved stationary status. (ie next turn)
- infantry are more vulnerable the more hexes they have moved that turn. (To include any transport movement - zooming up 15 hexes in an APC and unloading in view of a healthy enemy element is very unwise).

2) If in radio contact or in contact then it can - if not, then not. (if the first few rallies came from Lt Bloggs, then it was close enough. If all the rallies were from Cpl Clott, then it was outside Lt Bloggs influence). C&C is adjudicated at the beginning of the turn, not at the point of rally.

3) No - skill coaching is only effective at very short ranges (up to 3 hexes IIRC).

Thank you very much for the answers Andy
That skill coaching is the least understood topic, at least for me. Now:

1. Is that skill coaching also adjudicated at the beginning of turn just like that In-Contact status?

2. Does skill coaching apply only from superior to subordinate or it could be from any other units?

3. What forms of benefit a unit would receive if it's under the influence of his own or other's skill coaching, like increased number of shots, etc?

4. How's the rarity of this skill coaching happening? Is it so rare and the effect so minimal that we shouldn't worry much about it?

I have no idea, and I am not going to delve through the code for details of something SSI put in at the start and we have never done anything with.

It exists, and has a tiny itty-bitty benefit, not worth tying yourself into knots about, quite frankly.
