Limited Fuel
Here's a suggestion-is there any way to add limited fuel to the game?
In certain circumstances and scenarios this may be useful.
What can a heavy like a Tiger with half a tank of fuel do, I suppose?
I'd really like to have limited fuel in this game.

Re: Limited Fuel
You have to remember the timescales of the battles within the game - any tank without sufficient fuel for the fight wont be on the board/table/map.
In a designed scenario you could remove the movement capability of a vehicle to stimulate it being out of fuel - but I think in most circumstances, in reality, the crew wouldn't stay and fight in a vehicle with no movement / manouever capability.

Re: Limited Fuel
No. Never. Even the longest game would not run a tanks fuel out and it would create a horrendous overcomplication of the game

Re: Limited Fuel
Light vehicles like the Hellcat may have operated for hours, I suppose, whilst the heavies may have needed constant refueling, in comparison, I suppose.

Re: Limited Fuel
With a full tank of fuel....... and the game assumes this..... a Tiger tank could operate at top speed for between 3 and 5 hours but they would rarely be running at top speed for three - five hours straight so a full tank of fuel would easily take them to the limit of the games turns... but, as I said, we have no intention of introducing fuel into the game

Re: Limited Fuel
Could a common variety modern car do such a thing? Older cars would have been less efficient I suppose.
So much could be deception, from both military and other sources. Even repeating spreading false data by those who listen to and repeat such supposed ratings...
Would a military spread disinfo? To my mind they entirely could, I suppose.

Re: Limited Fuel
Conspiracy theorys aside. Information on armour values, shell penetration values, fuel consumption etc etc are generally well documented and not subject to "dis-information"

Yes, especially considering SPWW2 is about WW2 equipment which has been obsolete for decades. There's absolutely no reason to hide or give false information about WW2 equipment.
That said, SPMBT is a different thing; especially data about post-1960s equipment is often estimates or even "guesstimates", with more uncertainty introduced towards current equipment and vehicles.

Fuel tank size is a design decision. Most modern cars could easily fit in much larger fuel tanks than they have, though this would cut into the amount of space available for other purposes, such as space available for passengers and cargo. However, most people are willing to accommodate a smaller fuel tank and instead visit fuel stations more often.
In WWII tanks, there was no intention to accommodate passengers or cargo inside. Rather, the designers tried to cram into a tank big gun, lots of ammo, thick armour, powerful engine and lots of fuel. Those WWII tank fuel tanks (no pun intended) measured in hundreds of liters (some modern tanks having over thousand liters of fuel). On the other hand crew compartments could be cramped, and any extra cargo would be usually carried somewhere outside the vehicle.
Scenario-wise, you could try modelling limited fuel supplies by reducing movement rate for the vehicles with limited supplies, to represent tank crews being more conservative with their fuel.

Re: Limited Fuel
It has some merit late war for Germans as they did in certain instances become critical on fuel due to lack of supply. But it was rare & they were mainly defending.
Do it yourself using house rules example
Roll 2 dice every second hex entered or something if roll 10+ fuel critical.
Future moves a roll of 8+ means they have run out.
