I noticed a weird thing...
Well, when i play the long campaign with any country, in some battles the cost of AI units is the half.
No every battle, only some ones of them.
I looked for the reason for that. And i found that when the IA buy first place "general support artillery" (50% cost) EVERY unit (infantry or armour) it buys after that costs the half too!!!
So the IA buys a lot of cheaper and deploy the double of units.
Anybody did notice this too? Great bug maybe?
I am 100% secure this is true. I have seen it, one and another time...
Sorry for my poor english...

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
Something to be investigated, it seems. (Its probably not turning the flag off after the arty buy?).
BTW - which nation, and battle type and date would be helpful to know.

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
If you could set a battle up that shows this and post it here that would help a lot ...........even the information on what nation is likely to do this more than others would be helpful

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
Yes - I'd like to know which side was the AI in this case.
In WW2 each nation has its own purchasing routine hard-coded, so it looks likely I messed up one (muggins forgot to switch off the variable in the arty buy section?).
Knowing who it was thus saves me poring through umpteen individual purchase routines...
Andy
NB - I'll assume that you did not have the AI points multiplier changed from the default 100%. IIRC - that uses full points value and not a ratio of the AI cost. So it shouldn't matter here.

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
Here i uploaded a savegame and i "traslated" it to scenario mode so u can use the editor and to see i mean.
The problem is with US army but i have seen it before with indians in Burma and with URSS and a lot of other countries.
Thx.

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
Hi again.
I have seen this "bug" in winSPMBT too.
If the AI buys G/S artillery is first time, every unit bought after that, only cost half.
Thx.
EDIT.- Every nation, every time, some battles.

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
I have tried this in both MBT and WW2 (using your opponent pair of USA v Japan in 2/42 for the latter).
In over 100 test purchases, this problem has not appeared at all. This was using the battle generator of course, I tried assaults, advances and meeting engagements for variety.
It's definitely borked, as the USA has on-map mortars etc in General Support (only off-map arty can be so).
However, the campaign save is useless for debugging since it's at a point after the AI purchase - do you have a save prior to the game purchase?. (but there is no difference in the AI buy routines between a campaign and a generated battle - me scratching head here! )

Re: I noticed a weird thing...
Aha! - I got the little insect!
Your last purchase was a general support battery.
That left a global flag set - which then carried over to the AI purchase routines which misbehaved. Code was not clearing that properly between players (?). I'll squash that bug for the next release.
Meanwhile - the workaround is to ensure that the artillery mode is set to under command at the end of your purchasing, should you have bought D/S or G/S mode arty yourself.
NB (edit) - further testing, and it will only apply to auto-bought AI forces - there is protection in setting the artillery type variables in the purchase screen, so if you do this a human player (or the AI if you are buying for it) will only get the HQ at reduced cost, as the initialisation of the purchase screen ensures the globals are set correctly. The HQ is computer-bought before then autonagically though.
