Fame and Infamy
Do those stats matter?
I'm ashamed that my current captain has 8 infamy points (compared to something over 3,000 fame points). The infamy points, of course, are based on accidentally hitting the stupid rabbits with an AT weapon with +1 adj.
Is there any way to get rid of infamy points. I have now crafted super duper weapons that make sure there will be no more of them.
BTW, at the moment, I think this is my all-time favorite game, and I've been playing computer games fanatically since 1969, for 48 years. This is a monster game. I hope it gets the attention it deserves.
The more I play it, the more I LIKE the dorky old graphics. They're done with great style; the mind and eye adjust; and like all good games, it gives a framework for the imagination, without tediously trying to spell out every last detail.

Everyone can help. Talk it up on other forums or chat groups. It is interesting to note, that every game we have had that has been a huge success has had a large following that promoted the game in this way.
Lord Felix, thanks for this post!

Re: Fame and Infamy
I don't think those measly few infamy points matter all that much.
Also, violence against the rabbits is justified. Those things can waste your turns and make you die.

Re: Fame and Infamy
I believe that fame reduces the cost of hiring new crew, while infamy increases that cost. If you have high numbers for both I believe they just cancel each other out. I think you can also gain infamy by refusing to allow an infected crew back aboard the ship.

That you can, yes. Though as far as I know that's an early-game problem as planets quickly become such that the crew would rather suffocate than try to breathe with whatever is in the planets' atmospheres.
That being said, I'm doing all my planet-pillaging with a full officer crew nowadays, including a medic, so it makes sense that I didn't know it affected crew hiring prices (since having a medic means you generally don't lose crew unless you do something utterly stupid).

Re: Fame and Infamy
Do the "boss" bunnies (who attack you) count against infamy, or are they just normal targets?

I think they do, what with the boss modifier being just a modifier.
Also, are you sure they are attacking? It's been some time since I'd played it since I didn't have time for games for the last two weeks, but I do remember those as acting ... well, weird, as they seemed to want to attack and yet didn't actually hurt you.

Re: Fame and Infamy
Big Bad Bunnies don't count toward infamy. You can kill them, but it often takes a chase all around the sector, even if you have long-range sniper rifles. They can kill you if they get close to you by setting your away team on fire. I try to avoid them.

@Lord Felix:

(and he is right about big bad bunnies: if a monster has a positive damage stat, it will not cause you "infamy". most bunnies have 0, but boss modifies it.)
Infamy increases the cost of hiring crew, and your standing with certain races (some for the better, most for the worse... others don't care.)
Your 3k fame greatly outweighs the 8 infamy
