Default Lots of fun - deep caves

Having got back into the game, after letting it alone for a few days, my latest adventure is lots of fun. None of the woes of my previous attempts

Yesterday I went deep cave diving. I ended the session on cave level 110 of a Terran planet, and that was only because I needed to turn the computer off. And that leads me to my first question.

Is there any (even backhanded) way of saving the game when in a cave system. I would have liked to have gone further.

It was well worth it. I came out c.3 million credits up; I have tons of new schematics; I found loads of crafting parts and I made another quarter million credits from selling off the data. I also had more than 200 trade goods more than my cargo bay could hold I also encountered two new creatures, which was great.

My second question is would it be worth going any deeper? I'm not really concerned about getting even more resources, but very interested in experiencing the full richness of the game. Are there any real surprises to reward those of us that go beyond level 110?

ATB

Chris

Chris, really glad you're enjoying it.
It means a lot to me.

There is currently no reason to go any deeper into caves.
you have most likely seen everything there is at the moment.

Seeing as how people enjoy the deep dives, I may put something there later

According to the original design specs of the game , you can only save in space. Honestly, I never envisioned such deep cave dives... I really don't think that will change, but I do understand your concern.

New content is coming soon...

That depends. If you are using any ... let's say “decent” Windows OS, you can hibernate your computer instead of shutting it off which means you won't have to shut the game off either. My experience with the game is such that it is possible to hibernate your computer and then return to it without anything exploding in any weird way.

That being said, on some other OSes it might be possible to hibernate too, and generally I don't see the reason why it wouldn't be on any, but as I am not using any other OS I can't guarantee that it's possible on those.

Bob, it is a damn fine game. So addictive. I'm not getting anything else done at the moment. I keep waiting for the attraction to wear off but to no avail ;-)

Today has been spent chasing quests, following storylines and playing around with crafting - getting a better reactor is proving tough, but I like the challenge.

Thanks Kazeto. Good of you to take the trouble to reply. I can hibernate the computer but other household members rather that I don't leave it on (powered) over night - bad previous life experience.

I have plans for 2 new kinds of cave levels, and 2 hours. let's see what I can do

[edit] ok, the first two hours were pretty good. and now, after another hour in the morning, I've got the first type pretty well done and refined. It's a special cave level that should be a REAL challenge.
