Re: Question about the size in winSP
size zero foot units are small teams..... size one is a regular squad. A size 2 vehicle is a jeep then vehicles are assigned size based on other similar units.
Terrain is
"Each Terrain level represents roughly 20 feet or 6 meters of elevation. Each of the ten units that make up one level of elevation represent roughly 24 inches or 60 centimeters each"
and
"Ground terrain ALWAYS blocks LOS 100% and it blocks LOS when it is more than 3 “units” of height above the level your unit is om"

Re: Question about the size in winSP
Generally speaking size 0 is for teams of 4 or less men (with a handful of exceptions), size 1 for most infantry type units (they can scatter and take cover), size 2+ for vehicles.

Re: Question about the size in winSP
The Kraka ATV is size one but it's rare ( and small )..the Iveco LMV will show in the v11.01 OOB's as size one but that's an error that has now been corrected for all nations using it.
There is no formula for determining what might be size 4 and what might be size 6 .... it's all done based on how a new vehicle compares to existing similar vehicles.

Re: Question about the size in winSP
Our camrade found such information about size units.
On this forum: Steel Panthers: World at War
Quote:
I understand that it is height that determines the size of a Unit.
Here's a chart that they originally used for Version 6 I believe, I'm not sure how accurate this is now.
Size 1 = Height <1.8m
Size 2 = Height <2.4m
Size 3 = 2.41-2.70m
Size 4 = 2.71-2.99m
Size 5 = 3.0-3.29m
Size 6 = >3.3m
You may find some vehicles that certainly do not fit in this guideline.

These data are not comparable with the WinSP ?

Re: Question about the size in winSP
Its more than height its surface area.
Modern Russian MBT like T-90 are smaller than Western conterparts, Height, width & length hence a smaller target.
By comparison a jeep type vehicle is a small vehicle in all respects.
Amphibious landing vehicles like US marine LVT are large slab sided targets.
To determine size you need to take the profile into account, mix of silhouette for front & side as the game does not change size for the facing.

Re: Question about the size in winSP
Sorry for double post you only have to look at The Russian OOB to see they do not apply,
Size 2 height < 2.4m
Thats means a lot of civilian cars jeep type vehicles are the same size as a T-90 or BMP-3 size 2 according to them.

Re: Question about the size in winSP
Whatever "size formula" that game came up with to determine the size of a unit has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with our games and how size is determined......Ничего
We DO NOT just use height to determine size. We take into account height, length and width based on nearly 20 years of experience grading these things
If you used that formula, A Sherman and a Königstiger would be the same size which is ridiculous when taken head on
and even their own OOB's don't rate them the same
Now compare the Sherman and the T-34
That is why the Königstiger is 6 in our game, the Sherman is 5 and the T-34 is 4
It's a different game created with different sets of criteria that originated from two different versions of Steel Panthers that neither Andy nor I care about in the least..... That is WHY there are two separate games ( three when you add in winSPMBT )
The first clue about how " accurate" that chart is was what the original poster wrote before and after
"I'm not sure how accurate this is now."
"You may find some vehicles that certainly do not fit in this guideline."

Re: Question about the size in winSP
I'm not expert of thsese things but isn't it thickness of hull/chassis more important than exact size of tank?

Re: Question about the size in winSP
Size is used to determine hit chance.......armour thickness does not factor into that equation
