The Forum Format
Okay, I expect a lil pushback on this one, since you all are likely set in your ways, but whats with the fact that the original topic is at the bottom, and new ones are stacked on top... I know its convenient for reading new replies to Posts, but for historical purposes, or when trying to read a thread in its entirety... UGGHH, My sanity fades out while I read in reverse *lol*
Too bad there isnt a customizable option... A GTA3 board I go to has it the exact opposite, new Posts on the Last page, and original post on top... either way has its pros and cons, but since Im not too active here, Im used to the GTA way... Just a comment... heh.

Re: The Forum Format
Well as a newbie I agree that this should be custom feature. I find it hard to wade through the old threads. On the other hand it is nice to have the latest first in current threads.

Re: The Forum Format
Very nice, as I just noticed... Would be cool if you could "reverse sort" the Posts with a click, kinda like how auction places (ebay) let ya when looking thru items... Ah well, I'll adapt.
Or open a warp point to the bottom of the page

Re: The Forum Format
Funny thing is, since this is the first forum I really started posting on and reading, I look at the other forums and see them as 'reverse'

After a while you do think other forums are in the wrong order.

Re: The Forum Format
This forum is commercially available software, namely Ultimate Bulletin Board Version 6.1.0.3, by InfoPop, as you can see if you look at the bottom of the page.
The software has an option to reverse the order, but only the administrator can set this for everyone by a separate control panel.
Perhaps Shrapnel Games would update this software if asked, however the latest Version does not have this feature yet. It does have a preview function I'd want, so perhaps it is time for an upgrade anyway.
So maybe the best thing to do if this upsets you is go to InfoPop's web site, join the forum (which uses the same software, see latest Version!) and tell them how you feel. A link is available at the bottom of the page.

Re: The Forum Format
Cynapse ,
You are correct. It is much easyier to follow the most recent post which is what we do 80%, (to pull a number out ot the air), of the time.
The easyest way to get around the forum is:
A mouse with a scroll button
Use the:
Home Key - Brings you to the top of the page
End Key - Brings you to the botton of the page
When reading a thread read the latest page to get an idea of where it is and then the oldest page to see how it started. After that you will usualy know if you are interested in the topic.
I susspect adding the felxiblity to the forrum is a major rewrite of the code.
Enjoy and don't forget to stop by the "Ye Olde Bar and Grill and Phongs Head Cantina" for information and fun.

Re: The Forum Format
Trust me once your here for a few weeks you will start begging other board admins to switch it this way. Otherwise keeping up with recent threads can be a bear.
