SW-map
Andre (or someone else),
How far is your sw-map from completion? If you stopped developing the map, could you send the Last Version to me so I can finish it.

Re: SW-map
I didn't continue with the map in my site but I'm still researching and putting everything into an Excel spreadsheet.
I'll try to post it soon.

Re: SW-map
Props to anyone who finishes that, it looks so good even as a bitmap.

Re: SW-map
I think the biggest problem while working on these fun map projects is the lack of functionality in the Map editor.
I'm glad we have a map editor mind you - but it really needs a "Generate Random System" command and easy to add warp points. It's just too freakin' hard to add all these items by hand for over 200 systems. Add these and I will personally finish this map and even make some custom planet pics for Corsucant etc...

Re: SW-map
On the Warp Points:
I've created a map that is a wee bit too strategic on chock points, and it order to do that, you need to connect lots of warp points.
Instead of doing hard confusing work on the Map Editor, I just create a map, make one UBERrace in it complete with stellar manip, no AI and go crazy on the warp points.
Easier this way: Point and click.
If anyone wants to see the map, give me your address and I'll send it to you; nothing special I might add, only it kind of resembles Suicide Junkie's Hyperspace map with a lack of asteroids in the quadrant

Re: SW-map
I was already using 'the completely unofficial star wars planetary database' created by Bob Vitas. I modified it into a more workeable spreadsheet (Autofilter on, etc). Bob Vitas database has more planets (1102 workable planets), but Andres database is more detailed regarding planetdescriptions and other spaceobects as spacestations. So I will use them both.
After the map is finished we could think about creating a real SW-SCENARIO. Some ideas:
It will start in the middle/end of the clonewars, with a struggling empire who subjugated a lot of systems. each subjugated system is controlled by a governer/senator. Some senators will be more rebellious than others, so big defeats for the empire should trigger a avalanche of uprisings.
The empire is secretly building a small death star.
the rebels are small and scattered, but possess: some factoryships, ships, a couple of colonies, a partnership with the Calamari AND the rebel headquarter with a small groundforce.
Rebel HQ:
-symbolizes the secret support of the enslaved galaxy.
-troop(so it can be transported)
-unreplacable, so the used components should be very expensive in price/quality ratio.
-50.000 minerals, 30.000 food, 30.000 rads, 20.000 science points and 10.000 intel points.
an good idea a saw some months ago in this forum (don't know the author): give some systems/planets distinctive advantages to simulate their experience with for example shipbuilding (kuat) or raising clones.
These are just some of my ideas. it is not very hard to implement them, just the time...if someone wants to help...
Start the criticism and ideas.
Andres is it oke that i (we?) use your files for the scenario. do you want to join this project?

Re: SW-map
I was actually coping data of Bob Vitas' planetary database and from his much more complete encycopedia.
It has less planets because I'm still adding them, all planets that appeared in some of the maps are included, and I'm trying to find logic locations for the rest. Joining some systems to make some sectors smaller.
And yes once it's finished (this and the sw part of the sci-fi x-over mod) I can think of many scenarios in different places of the timeline.
From the Hyperspace War (-5000) and the Great Sith War (-4000), the Clone Wars (-40) and the Galactic Civil War (0) and finally the Yuuzhan Vong invasion (+20).

Re: SW-map
Just a thought, how about making it have a fat maintence reduction for onething to sim rebels lack of maintence costs (dont' know why?) and it coudl produce minerals i think there are abilites in there, not sure if it would actually work tho on a ship based comp
