How do I get the Star Trek Mod to work? (new at this)...
Hi all.. This might be the wrong forum, but I'm having problems getting the Star Trek mod to work. I downloaded all of the image packs and the latest patches and overwrote everything. However, there are images missing such as the race images. Can someone tell me in order what to do? Thanks!

Which Star Trek mod? There are several. If it is this one:
http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/index.html
then it is not ready for use yet.
If it is the AST mod, located at:
http://www.astmod.com
then check to see if the missing pictures are not named incorrectly. Compare the AST\Pictures\Races\Racename folder with one for a race that works fine. Each file should be named "Racename_XXX.bmp", where XXX is the name of the image. Compare them to a default race folder to see what the correct names are.

That's strange. I downloaded the AST Mod full Version and the only folder within the race folder is 'Dominion' and there are no pictures in there.

Ok.. I uninstalled SEIV Gold and re-installed. I then applied the 1.84 patch, the AST Complete and then the new patch. There is still only one (Dominion) folder in the pictures directory under races. Is this bugged?

No, it's not bugged. You have to download the Addon pack as well with the rest of the races. Go to the AST Mod webpage and on the left side is a link to the AST Add on Mod.
That should be what you want. Hope that helps.

Re: How do I get the Star Trek Mod to work? (new at this)...
Here's where I am at thus far...
Ok. For anyone out there using the AST mod, could you explain to me how you install it? I upgraded my SEIV to Version 1.84. I then downloaded and unzipped AST Complete into my SEIV directory. I then downloaded patch 7 of the mod and unzipped that in the SEIV directory. I changed the path.txt file to read from 'none' to 'AST' so it would use the MOD. I don't have the MOD launcher. I then launch SEIV and see the bold title at the bottom that I'm currently using the mod. When I try to start a quick game, I get a bunch of 'value missing' errors. However, when I start a standard new game, it appears to work. It shows the AST race pictures, but is it normal for the original empires names and empire races list to still be present instead of the Star Trek Version when trying to add new? Please let me know as I went through about 2 hours of frustration Last night and am dying to play this MOD. Thanks.

Re: How do I get the Star Trek Mod to work? (new at this)...
knavery - it sounds like you've installed the mod OVER your original se4 instead of putting it into a sub-directory and leaving your original game intact.
This causes problems because the original races are then mixed up alongside the star trek ones and the game uses them when starting the game. Those races are incompatible with the ST mod and cause the errors you see.
You really ought to wipe your se4 folder, re-install, re-patch and then put the star trek mod into a sub-directory rather than overwriting your original files. Then you can use path.txt (or better yet, the mod launcher) to choose between the two games rather than mashing them together.
If you just want to make ASTmod work and don't care about the original game, you could just go into pictures/races and delete all the non-star trek race folders. I don't recommend that at all though.

Check if AST mod has its own "empires" folder. If not, make one. If SE can not find "empires" folder in the mod sub-directory, it goes to default folder. That is probably source of errors.

Ahh yes.. Ok.. Where do I pick up this MOD launcher that everyone is talking about. Perhaps the reason I am getting errors using the Quick Game function is that it is trying to generate a standard SEIV game, but since I changed the path.txt from 'none' to 'AST', it is conflicting. Maybe with the MOD launcher, the problems will disappear.
