Default Ships retreating during automated battle

This is something that has really annoyed me. If you equip a ship with something such as a quantum inverter beam (so it can create wormholes anywhere) but also with weapons, during strategic battle (automated), the ship just retreats to the corner of the battlemap instead of taking the offensive.
Is there any way to stop this?

Default Re: Ships retreating during automated battle

Make sure your default ship stratagy is not set to Do Not Get Hurt. Go to your design screen (F3) and select "Stats/Stratagy" for that particular ship design. The default stratagy will be on the bottom of that screen. Select from the drop down menu "Optimal" "Maximum" or "Short" weapons range. That should help. Also make sure that if the ship is in a fleet to make the fleet break formation so that the ship will default to that stratagy. Hope this helps.
