Custom Groups: broken?
Ok, I'm trying to mod some vehicle sizes in my mod to use the 'Do Not Allow Components of Custom Group' and 'Only Allow Components of Custom Group' abilities but the game won't recognize them for some reason. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Re: Custom Groups: broken?
I don't think there are even any abilities for that listed. I am fairly certain that they do not work.
All that custom Groups for components are used for is for the construct planet abilities for Ringworlds and such. The Constructed Planet Requirements is how many kTs of a custom comp group are needed. Hyper Density Cables and Gravity Plating get a custom group, and this is how they are requried for the RW Placement Generator to function.

Re: Custom Groups: broken?
The text file is very confusing because it says that custom group is referenced by the ship sizes file, which, if I remember, has nothing to do with planet construction.

Re: Custom Groups: broken?
Well I've done some more poking around and apparently, contrary to what the components.txt file says, it's NOT an ability. It looks like it's supposed to be one of the vehicle size requirements, but the file is poorly documented on where its supposed to go or how its supposed to be entered. All it says is:
Requirement X Type:
Specific Component - Must have, Specific Component - Cannot have, General Type - Have exactly,
General Type - Cannot have, General Type - Min Percent, General Type - Max Percent,
General Type - Min Amount, General Type - Max Amount, Custom Group - Cannot have,
Custom Group - Have exactly, Custom Group - Min Percent, Custom Group - Max Percent,
Custom Group - Min Amount, Custom Group - Max Amount, Ability - Cannot have,
Ability - Have exactly, Ability - Min Percent, Ability - Max Percent,
Ability - Min Amount, Ability - Max Amount
There are alot of useful features in this list, but absolutely no indication of how to put them in. I've tried several different ways, like entering them in a list like the abilities, to entering new requirements with the above names but nothing is working. I can't help but feel that I'm doing something wrong, but just can't figure out what it is.

Re: Custom Groups: broken?
Shadowstar, it's a non-implemented feature. You can't get it to do anything because it doesn't work. He never got it set the way he intended. It's a shame too cause we could have done a lot with it.

Re: Custom Groups: broken?
Well, that explains it. Oh well. Guess I'll have to find some other way to do this.

Re: Custom Groups: broken?
I did say there was nothing to do what you were trying to do that works...
