Yeah, I was thrilled when I heard Ubisoft dropped SF, now I can finally buy HoMM V with peace of mind. (Yes, it was confirmed HoMM V will not have SF)

WTF?? They posted links to pir8 sites? Thats just cold. I know the President or one of the top dogs at Star Force is nazi-like in his pursit of nay-sayers, but I didn't know it went to that level of assdom.

Anyhow, there is a non-starforce version of space rangers 2 coming out at the end of April. Its a download version through direct2play or something. The kick is, that you can only install it three times per license. I hope thats not what I think it means...I PM'ed one of the mods over on the SR2 boards to confirm. Anyhow, I am debating if its worth it or not if it is, because it looks like a damn fine game.

I never understood that what is this Starforce hysteria. I got many games using Starforce copy protection, and I never had any problems with my computer + laptop. I think if you have winxp [pro] with all updates, starforce wont cause any problems ever, at least i know many people with the same updated system like mine, they bought starforce protected games, and they never had a problem at all...of course they got different hardware.

Yep. And it's not just interfering with games : SF has also caused a lot of people's CD/DVD burner drives to be unusable, and also opens holes that compromise security of the computer, allowing viruses to slip in and _then_ be undetectable by anti-virus software because of StarForce.
