Re: Awesome units/spells
hmmm... maybe i shoulda kept quiet. lol-
seriously though- capturing bogus and crew is tougher than it initially sounds. you're going to need to a) research the necessary spells to charm them and a few handy items to increase your effectiveness. b) have an effective defense against the heroes who are scripted to kill your mages/commanders while being close enough so that the heroes are w/in the range of your charm spell. c) do all this research while protecting the province against other players who may rather just take the province as well as protecting your nation as a whole.
overcome any independents that might've built up over the interim while preserving bogus and crew.
not to use high level astral mages, b/c obviously you don't want to enslave the heroes, since you lose all their items and benefits.
in a SP, by the time u capture bogus and heroes, you're already on your way cleaning up and it just makes it a quicker finish.

Re: Awesome units/spells
I too love magma eruption. It kills most units it hits and it hits alot(shield dont stop it and AoE means it auto hits) of units, making if very effective for clearing large chunks of the enemy army.

Re: Awesome units/spells
Depends on the situation, I have used Magma Eruption against heavily armored units, and it leaves much to be desired.

Re: Awesome units/spells
True, but it is far more effective than bladewind against such enemies and, as its an earth spell, you could combine with with iron bane ect to take off that armour for some fun .
Good point thouhg, very heavy armour is tough for it.

Re: Awesome units/spells
I think Magma Eruption is best used against medium troops, and Blade Wind is better against light ones. They are both great spells though.

Re: Awesome units/spells
Against light troops(who often have shields) i would say go with magma eruption until your mage has pretty high precision. You can quite regularly hit 10-12 light units per casting with a very high kill rate against their light armour. The biggest bonus is that any unit in the target squares are automatically hit where-as bladewind can be fairly easily stopped(and dosnt kill as many). Against lightly armoured(8 prot or less i would say) enemies who lack shields bladewind would probably be better. Bladewind also scales its effectiveness well with the casters precision.
