				 Re: A Map List
Thanks for the help but it isn't quite what I'm looking for. A map done from a satellite image would look pretty bad for what we're trying to do. Also the map has the problems of too much Mexico and Caribbean and not enough Canada/Alaska which would cause gameplay problems with what we're going for. We're going for a medieval feel and also one that encompasses the geographic areas of the Society. When I create the provinces they will reflect the naming conventions, resources and population of the Society.
Something like the maps Jason Lutes did would be wondrous or even just in the style of the stock random maps in the game.

Thanks a lot for the help anyway.

 | Finding a satellite-based image that would make a good map, adding white dots for province centers and releasing an early version of your scenario would help a lot, IMHO. If someone likes your initial scenario, they might help you finish it, and if they already know what you'd like to have for geography, they'll have easier time making something you're happy with.

I think it would be relatively easy (== hard, but doable) to re-paint that into a map with spesific style. In fact, I think the mountain, forest etc icons used by the random maps have been released IIRC, so it might be possible to even do it yourself - any graphic program with layers would let you have the satellite image in one layer, and then you just paste the mountain icons on top of the mountains, trees on top of the forests etc, then put the beige ground color between the icons and the satellite image.

You might also want to look for antique maps of Northern America. This site would be a good start:

				 Re: A Map List
Is the map collection still being updated? I'd like to add a few reviews from the maps I played, but there seems to be little feedback on the page itself. |

Feedback doesn't go into the map collection thread but into the actual thread from the map itself. Reviews can be posted to the Wiki site, too, that would be very good. |

				 Re: A Map List
I think any more discussion of this should go into a separate thread. Now that I've thought about it, this thread is the definitely the wrong place for it.
Thanks to everyone for the help.

				 Re: A Map List
 Hello boys and girls.
I've been away for a while, and now I find the forums have changed quite a bit.

I was trying to download the Pangaea map, as it looks potentially very nice for a multiplay game. I get a redirect, and then nothing.

 A little help?

The Shrapnel folks are working on a fix to update all of the old links this weekend. If for some reason this process fails, I will eventually update them manually. |
