Default Map editor

Okey, guys. Dumb question. Is there a way to rotate a map in the editor?

Hi there!

no way afaik.

First, there's no strict north-south orientation in the game. It's not that the top map is always the north.

Second, if you have misplaced a nation's side on the map, you can always swap it (i.e from right map to left vice versa) in the scenario editor. Not sure if this can be done inside the map editor.

Even in the CD version, the only thing that comes in handy is the copy-paste function where you can chop a portion and put it somewhere on another map.

That's why a bit of planning prior to designing the map is crucial.

Hope this helps
Regards, Zen

Thanks, RightDeve.

Thought this was the case but hoped somebody knew of a way.
What I was looking for was a way to reorient the terrain features. I have found some good maps in the edotor to use but for what I have in mind, the terrain is wrong. The features are top and bottom, not side to side. I'll just buid my own. Was hoiping there was an easy way out.

Ah, I see. That's a pain indeed. If it is about designing a scenario, maybe you can orient the battle top-bottom/north-south by placing the units in respective places and also assign their "rout/rally" base to the top (or bottom) of the map; which normally would be west/east edge of the map. That's a simple workaround but not so effective I guess.

But if it is a simple one off battle (PBeM maybe), I'm afraid there's no solution since the basic (and only) way of playing is left-right/west-east direction.

As RightDev said not perfect but normally good enough is to use the assign Rally Hex button then chose all formations button.
If players are setting up they need to be told to place its but if make as a scenerio can set as make it. PBEM is still possible players just play the scenerio as per normal.
Have played doing this with a deep defence as map can be longer than it is wide certainly on large maps didnt see any problems & use it the button in game normally for formations behind enemy lines to stop routing towards the enemy. Usually remember once someone has
