Seems like the Independents are rather strong in this game.
I´ve lost a province to an uprising of a Vampire order that annihilated my local forces !!

Another attempt to conquer a province of obviously weak independents ended in a defeat too, as they were supported by very nasty mages....

However I´ve recovered meanwhile...
