On the night of June 27th, men of the 4th Marine Raider Battalion started out from Segi Point and landed near Lambeti Plantation in total darkness right under the Japanese noses. On the morning of the 28th, Lt. Col. Michael S. Currin's men advanced on what was believed to be a small Japanese garrison in the area.*
