Re: Valentine Tanks in NW Europe 44

Thanks for the info. From a variety of sources it looks as if only a handful of Valentines were employed in Europe following D-Day. While production continued into 1945 I think the lucky Soviet...

Valentine Tanks in NW Europe 44

Does anyone know whether the latter versions of the Valentine tank saw service in British tank brigades in north-west Europe from June 1944 onwards?

Re: Don't Feel Sorry For The AI

I agree Charles that the AI does not 'know' which of your units has the greatest experience. Whilst playing it has never seemed to pick out such units for priority targeting.

Re: Don't Feel Sorry For The AI

Regardless of how the AI targets, any damage it inflicts is liable to make you want to smash your computer in revenage.

Especially now it's pesky airforce have blown up my best Opel truck!

Re: Don't Feel Sorry For The AI

The AI was firing the appropriate weapons at appropriate (expensive!) targets rather than shooting up the units with the most experience.

Re: Don't Feel Sorry For The AI

I was talking in terms of purchase cost rather than experience compared to other units in a primarily infantry force.

Re: Don't Feel Sorry For The AI

Whilst I don't feel sorry for the AI as it will, in cold blood, slaughter your best units if given half a chance (bye bye Jagdpanzer IV and 105mm Howitzer Stug to US 57mm ATG and Bazooka...

AI Plays First

In a player generated battle is there any problem with setting the AI as the first player? The user manual points out this is unsuitable for scenario design but I have not found any specific...

Re: Scenario Recommendations

Probably the most fun thing so far is trying to hone the human factor! Striving to develope a battlefield sixth sense is proving most entertaining!

Re: Armoured Car Tactics

Well I can't provide the definitive answer on Polish lancers but some interesting perspectives have been preseneted on armoured cars.

Reading Reset's appreciation of recon assets and employment...

Re: Armoured Car Tactics

I always find having a big(ish) gun on a more lightly armoured vehicle a terrible temptaion. The urge to manoeuvre for just one more shot tends to lead to trouble! I'm quite happy with a 20mm cannon...

Armoured Car Tactics

How do other people employ their armoured cars and light tanks? At the moment I just tend to deploy them as covering forces on the flanks of an advance engaging targets of opportunity such as fleeing...

Re: Scenario Recommendations

I am enjoying the game very much just trying out a bunch of scenarios in different periods. Been playing around with the generated battles just to see what buy options are available without actually...

Re: Game Questions

Hmm, tank killing with infantry has to be one of the most satisfying aspects of the game especially when they have no dedicated AT weapons! Much harder against human opponents I would imagine though!

Re: Scenario Recommendations

Thanks for the replies for what was on reflection a somewhat ill considered question.
Whilst I have wargamed for some years this is the first squad level game I have really played. So I guess it is...

Re: Scenario Recommendations

I've not played any player generated battles/campaigns yet as I'm still getting a feel for the system. Initially I've played quite a few defensive orientated scenarios to get a feel for the game...

Aircraft Tunnel Vision

Do aircraft attacks ever 'miss' the intended hex? If so does AA fire have any influence on causing a 'miss' apart from shooting down aircraft before they reach the target point!

Scenario Recommendations

Hi all,

Which scenarios would you recommend as being balanced and interesting for solo play? I've tried a variety so far and found some to be a little unbalanced in playability terms. I'm quite...
