Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. Game Over. Supplicants Triumph!

Thanks, all. It was interesting. Alas, it seems I was on vacation when the game was called. Playing Ashdod was fun and I feel like this game was a good foot-in-the-door for team games.

Thanks,...

Re: Luck/Turmoil versus Nothing.

I tend to favor luck as it eliminates some province dependence and, contrary to the name, can actually be fairly reliable, though not always what you need at the time. I think it's also useful for...

Re: Site searching based upon independents

Then that raises the next question of when magical sites are generated: on searching or on game start (barring creator-defined sites)? I've seen some posts with people holding off on high-magic sites...

Site searching based upon independents

This is most likely a rank newbie question, but I have yet to find an answer through searching to forums. Do magic sites affect indie composition when you attack the site?

For instance, if I...

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. In Progress.

How dare you presume cowardice on the part of the mighty giants? I was referring to my steel boxer-briefs as these leather jockies have neither the coverage nor durability required for intense combat.

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. In Progress.

Well, after reading all this AI stuff, I think I need a change of underwear.

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

I definitely agree that the bidding is a huge plus and an important component of the concept. What I was trying to say is that the bidding should be kept, but the starting bids should perhaps be...

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

I considered going for early VPs with my natural water access, but I figured I would already be an early-game target and didn't need to draw any more attention to myself.

Honestly, I was trying...

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

Well, looks like I sent my .2h file while the new turn was en route. Stale for me.

Regardless, it looks like all I have left is to wait and die at my capitol. Good game, Yomi. Come kill me....

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. 17/17. AI Creation Phase.

Oh, yeah, that's what I assumed. Just seemed topical since Sept posted about Tonno taking over for someone in an absence.

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. 17/17. AI Creation Phase.

Sept's post is surprisingly telling as I will be out of town the first week in June and will not have access to the tubes. Just so everyone knows.

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

That sounds like a terrible job. Then again, I don't either. Perhaps that explains the quitting.

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

I'm amazed no one has used the excellent opportunity to use the word "defenestrate" literally yet.

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. 17/17. AI Creation Phase.

Good points on the timeliness. It would be nice, but I know I'll be out of computer reach for a week in June, so I'm not sure it's worth delays. I'd rather have the early game done by the time that...

Re: Recovering from raids

Quite frankly, I was in a pretty poor position to be hit. I had gone light on mages in an effort for quick expansion and was caught with my pants down about one or two turns before I was going to...

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI. 17/17. AI Creation Phase.

Thanks DrP! That'll be a great addition and hopefully no one will be a jerk. And if they are, well, it'll be fairly obvious, I think.

I think next time someone's staling with an army at my doorstep, I should keep my mouth shut.

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

I agree on the extension and looking for someone to take over while we investigate hoplo's status. It's still early enough that going AI would suck.

Re: Recovering from raids

Oh, I know and accept that the big blue morons can't hold onto a province if their lives depended on it. Actually though, it's become more of a problem in other games outside of Countdown. Especially...

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

I see you subscribe to a rather loose definition of "mine."

Although, I will admit, fortune seems to favor the luck scales in these last two turns.

Recovering from raids

Say you're in the middle of a major early war and you're getting raided in provinces you didn't even know you owned. Now, you've managed to counterattack and force the enemy forces from your borders....

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

"Nonsense! These concentric rings represent our...

Re: Countdown - ***Started***

Why? Why must the turn file always appear during my commute!? Oh what cruel fate, taunted by it, always glaring, whispering in my ears. "Don't work. Plan. Strategize. You must. Work later. Leave...

Re: Noobs and Vets II: Days of Infamy. MA, BI, Enlisting 14/17.

Heck, I volunteered to play Ashdod and I think having them unrestricted would be rough, especially given the thematic E bless. I think it's probably the difference between "these troops are butch"...

Re: Countdown - 13/13 Pretenders. GET NEW MAP!

Yeah, I just tried that and it worked.
