Arty too effective against hard targets

I know this has been mentioned before, at length ...

Anyway, my observations:

1) The hits on vehicles are usually when they are in hexes adjacent to the impact point.
2) It's not just arty,...

Re: Riflemen have too much ammo

This is an OOB issue, nothing to do with the game engine.

You can make your own OOBs with realistic infantry ammo capacities.

Re: Improvement proposal IV - Scenario design.

One thing you can do if you are making a scenario and want the VHs to count - set all units values to zero or divide by 10 or something. Won't work for generated battles though.

Re: Improvement proposal I - OP fire draining

How did that get past the PR department!? LOL http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Respect for being honest, I wish we could see the same in other places.

Re: Improvement proposal III - Spinning StuGs

I theoretically agree with DD. Turret turning (or whole vehicle turning as with assault guns etc.) should cost MPs not be completely removed.

The problem is, I don't the think the engine has a...

Re: Improvement proposal II - Movement in replay

This has never bothered me that much but I agree it would be good. A lot of work though I suspect.

Re: Improvement proposal I - OP fire draining

Totally agree in principle about "target selection". Quite possibly a lot of work though.

At least in SPWW2 you get op-fire ... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Improvement proposal IV - Scenario design.

Agree in principle. Fixed lines might be inherent in code though, don't know.

Disagree. This engine's retreat handling is superior to SPWaW IMHO.

Totally agree in principle. However,...

Deployment: Dug-in in a Trench

I have been wondering this for a while ...

If you deploy a unit in a Trench hex and then entrench it so it shows as "Dug-in" does it get a double dug-in defensive bonus?

Re: Question re: exporting info from SPMBT

Just to resurrect this ...

For non-password protected (i.e. non-PBEM) games you may be able to use WW2Ed (by Fred Chlanda) to dump out a save file. It has a "paste to CSV" function.

The program...

Thanks, I will play around with those parameters.

Scrolling the map in windowed mode

I find "auto-scrolling" in windowed mode rather difficult. The reason being that once the mouse pointer goes out of the SPMBT window movement stops. You have to actually hover the mouse near the edge...

Re: Linux support

With respect to Wine, IIRC there are some options in the config file to do with "grabbing the mouse" and similar. I would suggest fiddling around there.

Re: Linux support

I am a Linux user too. However, I think porting this game to Linux would be a decidedly non-trivial exercise. Perhaps if someone were to offer loads of money? Otherwise it's not going to happen ...
