Re: AI deployment in generated battles

for a look at AI deployment examples do a battle but set the game length to ONE turn. the battle ends after that one turn examine the map and you'll get a fair idea (very good idea if the AI's...

Re: Strategy for taking out big AT guns

AT guns in this game should have a life expectancy right up there with gazelles at a lion convention. smoke 'em and shell 'em. i never buy them against a human player because they are fragile,...

Re: WINSPWW2 Sub-Tactical?

Chuck,

All I had was from the library and that was some time ago and my aging memory fails.

However from "Dirty Litle Secrets of WWII" (Dunnigan and Nofi, not a bad little read incidentally):

JPN picklist & amphib question

hiya,

maybe appropriate for 12/7?

i'm playing a USMC vs. JPN long campaign and a BIG "hats off" to whoever did the latest version of the JPN picklist. the AI is now much tougher as it's not...

Re: How about ammo trucks?

Putting ammo units in your core is a good way to give the AI a little "boost" in its purchase points. As ammo units become more experienced their "value" (base cost adjusted for experience)...

Re: Order of setup

I know what you mean. Could this possibly be handled by a "save" option on the repair screen? I.e. make all your core changes, save then proceed. If one encountered a battle they didn't like (e.g....

Re: WINSPWW2 Sub-Tactical?

Sorry this response took so long Nick. I was referring to multiple infantry UNITS in the same hex. I realize larger squads take more casualties than small ones, all other things equal.

E.g you...

Aircraft Strafing

Hiya all,

I was wondering why strafing aircraft seem to have minimal effect (causalty wise) on infantry. I checked the weapons stats in mobhack and found the aircraft class (11) .50 MG had the...

Re: Changing starting rank of A0 in long campaigns

Sorry this took so long. People expect me to actually WORK instead of fooling around with SPWW2. Your hint worked like a champ with one caveat. The scenario editor evidently "doesn't know" about a...

Re: Panzergrenadiers

Nice, Andy!

I regularly mobhack infantry company formations removing the heavy weapons (lt. mortar & MG) from the HQ platoon. i wind up with 3 rifle platoons and a heavy weapons platoon, or...

Re: That Motorcyclist bug: Very helpful, thank you.

If you like bikers, try mobhacking yourself some dismountable types. Clone a truck with the MC icon and speed. These become REALLY good mobile reserves as dismounted the infantry is not as easily...

Re: Command & Control question

OK tried it and clicking on the subordinate platoons works fine, any platoon can be re-assigned. Thanks. Looks to be a "display issue" more than anything else.

Re: Command & Control question

Thanks...I knew about the "passing of command" on destruction of the "0" unit, hence my comment "no problem there". I'll try re-assigning by clicking on the attached platoons in the HQ menu rather...

Re: WINSPWW2 Sub-Tactical?

I tried something like this a while back (DOS ver). I built "fire teams" of 3-4 men so that SP "platoons" really represented squads of (usually) 3 fire teams or maybe 2 FTs and a 3 man MG team. SP...

Thanks Don. I'll give it a rip and report back (after I complete the campaign) to let you know if I encountered any problems.

Changing starting rank of A0 in long campaigns

hiya,

is there any way to change the A0 default (starting) rank in long campaigns? i play some small (company sized) LCs and would like A0 to begin as a Capt. or maybe a 1st Lt. Lt. Col. seems a...

Re: Infantry Casualties at 50m

superb analysis...IMHO infantry lethality, particularly at shorter ranges, has always (i.e. even the DOS version) been WAY over the top. the whole move close, get massacred, bounce without shooting...
