Re: New Scenario: SPANNOCCHI\'S DREAM II

Two remarks (after viewing the Austrian set-up at start):

You've given fortresses C0 through E2 40 rounds sabot ammo for the 105 m68 gun. Unfortunately that gun has an APCR value of 0 so these...

Re: kwk 38 cannon or machinegun

Or to be more precise, that's not a summary of the thread, but just of your opinions as voiced in this thread.

And as you probably know already, work on WinSPWW2 is currently halted, and has been...

Re: Designing a Pursuit Combat Mission

Maybe put neutral objective hexes behind the enemy forces. They should go for those, perhaps leave some troops to hold you back. Put the more valuable ones the furthest back. Make them harder to...

Re: They won\'t stay bailed out!

Are they still supressed when they bail out? If so it is possible that they are pinned and hence won't move. The suppression could still be low enough though to allow them to pass the check to...

Re: No russian 85mm AA gun ?

It is outside the SCOPE of the game, ie has NO PLACE in the game, therefor it isn't there. That other people who make other games think otherwise is up to them.
So it has nothing to do with code...

Re: WP/Nato: Infantry discussion !

And all of that would never have been the case since the available infrastructure and logisitics base could not accomodate the use of such huge forces over such a large area (particularly with...

Re: WP/Nato: Infantry discussion !

That has more to do with the incorrect use of the defending units. If those squads hit byt the RPO and heavily supressed have no covering fire to protect them from exactly what you describe they...

Re: WP/Nato: Infantry discussion !

If you compare squads ona one by one basis the RPO is indeed a big plus. But gamewise you an't simply compare on a squad vs squad basis and look only at it's weaponload. Unit cost is equally...

Re: WP/Nato: Infantry discussion !

Well, it's tough to compare the two since there's a staggering array of different nations and within nations different types of infantry formations to pick from.

Why I think NATO has (on average)...

Re: Close assaulting an immobilized turretless vehicle

True, but remember that for very green and inexperienced troops they may not realise there's little danger. Don't forget that although it's not modeled in the game in RL there would always be the...

Re: Red Army = most effective force !

Double Deuce is absolutely right. While the red army MAY have a small edge in the seventies, prior to the appearance of thermals and NATO's 120mm guns, once these do make an appearance the tables are...

Re: Tank Speeds too slow?

If they could move at only 4 mph then it is not the 'combat mode' that held them back but terrain since regular infantry can move 3 hexes over clear terrain giving them a speed of 6mph. So if they...

Re: kwk 38 cannon or machinegun

Don't put words in my mouth. Size of burst, accuracy of weapon and HEK are all related. What I said is that IF one would want to change the burst size you'd have to think of the other two too. Just...

Re: kwk 38 cannon or machinegun

I didn't mention what I thought a reasonable size of burst would be but I was thinking about 5 rounds. But I didn't realise that the ammo was mixed, which almost halves the effective ammo load (as...

Re: kwk 38 cannon or machinegun

Same problem still exists, it won't model the auto fire with AP ammo. For the types of vehicles using this weapon getting on target quickly was fairly important as they were fairly vulnerable...
