Bah, you're right. That's what I get for playing on my laptop without the manual at hand... "quickens" (as in the in-game spell description) can mean a wide variety of things (+AP, +def, +atk, etc),...

Huh... maybe it's just me, but it looks like LA Pangaea is actually buggy. Doing a bit of SP test, it looks like Quick Roots actually has no effect whatsoever on manikin.

Oh well, guess I'm stuck...

I'd like to point out, for the record, that I will not be using Man's death summons because they are buggy and overpowered; the spells to summon Barghests and Black Dogs actually summon the opposite...
