Re: Troop Quality in preferences

Yes, I hadn't considered that he may be playing with so small a force that he's not getting much quality opposition.

I'm not sure entirely what he was talking about, as the details aren't too...

Re: Artillery

Have you considered the high-velocity issue too? Because I would assume the vast majority of the modern or semi-modern systems see a much higher proportion of high-velocity, therefore making the shot...

Re: Troop Quality in preferences

I think what you're trying to say is that the USSR units are way too cheap in comparison to other nations. I was going to tell you that you were going about changing the USSR prices the wrong way...

Re: Soviet Campaigns

Isn't the '45 Manchurian attack one of the USSR attacking Japanese units? Some might find that interesting, but it's sure a very lopsided battle. There the IJA had to put up with their worst...

Re: possible bug

It's probably a ski unit in the snow. Or it could be a ski unit not working correctly on normal ground. Of course with it being a scenario, anything is possible.

Re: Artillery

You do recall these are WWII tanks don't you? I mean some of them didn't have anything more thna the most rudimentary optics. Also consider that your targets in many cases are not standing still,...

Re: Some issues?

DRG: On the infantry getting killed issue. I'm sorry to disagree with snake, but it's working VERY well as far as I'm concerned. It was the prior version of SPWW2 that had practically invincible...

Re: Some issues?

DRG: On the tanks suppressing themselves whilst in the hex with an enemy; it is very much going on and i've seen it several times. We're talking about units that aren't able to fire back in the same...

Re: Would like to see?

I'm not sure what you're talking about snake. The fact of the matter is the objectives are 'always' on the map, even when deployment starts. Unless the AI has already set it's forces before you set...

Re: Would like to see?

There was a time where I did that with SPWW2 or SPWAW, but I can't remember how it turned out. The most obvious way I can think of is to change preferences.

For example, you type in your campaign...

Re: Would like to see?

1. You may be able to achieve that basically by placing the victory objectives on either the extreme edge of the enemy side, or the hexes next to that. I'm not sure what that would do to the AI...

CD Version

I bought the cd version, and I have some questions.

Is my playing the game now fruitless as far as campaigning goes? IOW, when I load the cd over this, will I be able to continue to play the...

Re: Artillery

Yeah, but these were mere 75mm's. Another poster showed how the top hit ratio is way too large. I can't say I noticed that, though it isn't small, but what I can say is if that the top should...

Re: German Biased?

I meant wimpy in terms of their equipment and ratings in WinSPWW2. Surely you will agree that their in-game army is much weaker than the in-game armies for GB and the USA for example?

Re: Points allocation during the campain

That answer confuses me slightly. Is that your way of saying that the AI gets it's force selection from your core + support despite how horribly that core may be damaged destroyed? If I have a 3200...

Re: German Biased?

Czerpak: Besides, not only did the Germans fight so many nations, but they often proved to be very worthy adversaries; a true test for every nation. Pit USA vs. Japan and Japan can't stop the tanks....

Re: German Biased?

Well yes, there's always some nation wimpy enough to provide a fight for any of the major combatants. I was thiniing of course about how wimpy their anti-tank capability was against GB or the US....

Re: Points allocation during the campain

I'm glad to hear that the AI works off the core plus what you picked out of support. I was always afraid the AI working off the core -and- all the support points, whether you used them or not. Making...

Re: Artillery

Mobhack,
Thanks for the advice, but I much enjoy playing a very large map like that, with as it turns out is a 3200pt force instead. I like having enough territory to where having fire brigades is...

Re: German Biased?

On the other hand, the Japanese are one of the least interesting nations by far in terms of a total inadequacy with tanks and anti-tank capabilities.

Even the Italians could often field a decent...

Re: Deselecting unit / center on unit

I'm not sure about the first question, but one way I've found, though there's probably an easier way to center the unit, I just hit 'n' and then 'p', which in turn takes you to the next unit,...

Re: Artillery

Okay, thanks DRG, I was fully aware of the many places I could find the mission, only it seems as though on the prior SPWW2 that I could find it in-game easily enough. I do further think I'm in an...

Re: Artillery

I have played all the SP incarnations since the game came out, with the exception of the original SP2, and to this early point the arty seems too effective to me.

At first the AI Poles were mostly...
