Re: Opinions on Caelum (MA and other)

The stats for the Caelum infantry are not great to begin with, but flight just makes them suck.

They rush into battle where they are exposed to concentrated fire. They fatigue out very rapidly,...

Re: Pythium

Yeah, me to. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I would have definitely gone AI a while ago (even before my own extended hiatus), if not for the fact that this was my first...

Re: Opinions on Caelum (MA and other)

With an E9 bless and a few buffs, Eagle Kings can be very effective when used this way. They don't really need to be kitted out, although reinvigoration items are useful.

Re: Opinions on Caelum (MA and other)

I would like to see the flight/fatigue rule reworked (at least for Caelum). The current rules make their infantry nearly worthless. They invariably charge in, swing their swords ineptly for 2-3...

Re: Mictlan

Too late to withdraw from the "I win" race. I believe that a consensus was already reached to call the game in your favor. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

No point in...

Re: Pythium

Any chance we could stick this game on timer? It would not have to be permanent, but it would be nice to recondition players to turn in their turns on a semi regular basis. A 48 hr timer for even a...

Re: I\'d like the opponent\'s gems.

Unless of course you catch one or more of the gem carrying scouts following around the defeated army. I once uncovered 5 such scouts (packing 30 gems each) after a particularly massive battle. My...

Re: Dragon Master

Oh yes! Bring on the dragons!

I think the idea of multiple dragon types (fire, ice, etc.) is terrific, as is the idea of dragon-slaying weapons (cool and unique).

It would also be fun if...

Re: Some questions.

The besiegers can patrol, although patrolling squads do not count for siege damage. Even though an assassin may "sleep" in the castle, if he ventures out to conduct assassinations, he can be caught...

Re: Some questions.

1) yes

2) no

3) Units use size-1 supplies per turn. You can see a unit's size by clicking on h.p.. Horsemen are typically size 3 and thus use twice as many resources as typical size 2 foot...

Re: Sea of Ice

Are you sure that the Sea of Ice global is still in operation? The AI does not dispel globals, but it is definitely not adverse to casting them. And since there can be only 5 globals in operation...

Re: What kind of sock puppet are you?

Dunno, I may simply be erratic. But I am definately the opposite of a pacifistic diplomat, and I certainly need to improve as an industrialist. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Mictlan

I set the Giants to AI this turn. They had nothing to do anyway other than sit around and watch as their lands were slowly consumed by T'ien Ch'i. This game has moved much too slowly for that to be...

Sorry Xietor, I missed the gorgon part. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

Re: Horror Marking

The problem with this is that unless your pretender/SC has flight it will simply advance but not actually attack for it's first action. Whereas the Horror will engage and attack simultaneously. ...

As for mind hunting and the success of remote magic overcoming MR. . . I have carried out extensive testing of Mind Hunt (and limited testing of VOTD), literally simulating thousands...

Re: Strange House

I believe that only astral mages can enter the R'lyeh void gate. However, in dom2, pure mages that entered the gate quickly lost their minds (i.e. became feebleminded). Only astral mages that were...

Re: Vengeance of the dead, what the hell

Several points:

1) MR is not as effective vs. remote map spells as one would predict. I have done extensive testing with Mind Hunt and have come to the conclusion that MR is effectively 2 less...

Re: It\'s from Akvavitix!

Sounds like the battle replay bug strikes again. When this happens the battle replays have little to do with the official final results.

I think Helheim is challenging to play. The...

Re: Question about Frighten and Terror

I suspect that NoPJag is correct. Terror and Frighten have a negative effect on moral and require the targeted squad to make a moral check at the end of the round irregardless of whether or not the...

Re: Fighting EA R\'leyh

The problem with elementals is that they come in relatively small numbers, and they show up next to the casting mage. Unless you want all your mages to be in the front line, the elementals are not...
