Re: Ablative Armor

For just adding it to stock as high-end armor and ignoring the 3 kT stuff, do the following:

1) In TechArea.txt, increase the maximum level of Armor to 9.
2) In Components.txt, copy a basic armor...

It helped that it had already fought a...

Re: OT: SecurROM

Things like this is the official and (I'm pretty sure) legitimate reason that Game Copy World (http://gamecopyworld.com/) exists. Search for Bioshock and download the no-dvd fixed exe (I checked,...

Re: Multiverse Mod

Yeah, the picture is kind of obvious.

Good series, just finished part 3. I especially liked the gigantic battle at the end of part 2, and I was a little disappointed that part 3 didn't bring...

Re: A question about \"starting\" weapons....

Suppose you have a series of laser weapons, Laser I through Laser X and Advanced Laser I through Advanced Laser 5. Lasers require Lasers technology 1-10, and Advanced Lasers require Lasers...

Re: SEIV Ship Maintenance at the design stage

In any construction queue where the ship can be built, right-click on the design in the list over on the left. The pop-up info window that brings up gives the maintenance cost, among other things. ...

Re: A question about \"starting\" weapons....

In TechArea.txt, Start Level is the tech level each player starts with on a low tech start, and Raise Level is the level for a medium tech start. High tech start gives everything at max level. One...

Re: Installing SE IV on New Machine. What a Night

You need to get the gold to deluxe patch. Patches after that one do not include the gold to deluxe update because it makes for a huge download and people who don't need it shouldn't be forced to...

Re: PBW to be permanently shutdown

I was pretty sure it was an April Fools joke just from the subject line. Such serious and major announcements are nearly always jokes when made on April 1st.

Re: PBW status

There seems to be a problem with turn emails. I've had to download the last two turns of my current game direct from the PBW website.

Re: OT: Let\'s gripe about the weather

You apparently flipped the direction too. The correct formula is F = (9/5)*C + 32.

Re: OT: Let\'s gripe about the weather

No, -40C is -40F. It's the temperature where the two scales match.

I was there to "hear" it this morning. I just didn't have much time and fell back on emailing my turn in.

Re: What to research first when playing the AI?

No, that would be high level Anti-Proton Beams. They cost a great deal more to research that far, though, and they don't skip non-phased shields. APB XII is the best late-game weapon in stock, but...

Re: OT: Gravity, Dark Energy, Universal expansion

That falls under the "no such inertial reference frame exists" clause, and the speed of gravity does matter for such systems. Technically the Sun is accelerating so no inertial reference frame has...

Re: OT: Gravity, Dark Energy, Universal expansion

One of the most basic assumptions of relativity is that all inertial reference frames are equally valid. Simply choose your inertial reference frame to be one where the sun is motionless, and you...

Re: OT: What\'s a good .iso \'fake cd drive\' program

Ever heard of the Geneva Convention? It's the same sort of thing. Plus, by the time the latest book comes around neither side actually wants to be fighting the war any more, they just can't get...

Re: OT: What\'s a good .iso \'fake cd drive\' program

There's a reason I recommend starting at the beginning with On Basilisk Station. The later books assume an increasing amount of background knowledge that you just don't have. It may not be as long...

Re: OT: What\'s a good .iso \'fake cd drive\' program

I strongly recommend reading that series in order, starting with On Basilisk Station.

The entire Honor Harrington series, plus several more books, is available online (legally and free*) here...

Faster than 20 seconds (http://youtube.com/watch?v=NJz02Nh99Cs)? (No, that's not me, but it's not the (current) world record either, and it's with just one hand.)
