Re: AI Questions

Should work for all nations. Items are drawn from a common pool after all. Unless you're willing to get incredibly detailed you won't perhaps see the greatest combinations, but you'd still see an...

Re: Blood Magic, Demon Knights, and Vampires

Only in Hollywood lore. It was the same with Werewolves and silver. According to the original Vampire lore (in most of the West at least) a vampire could be killed in the same way as anyone else. It...

Re: AI Questions

I don't think I've ever seen a path booster on a non-mage unit, barring of course those it's managed to pick up post-battle.
I've not seen it make full use of items such as research boosters and...

Re: AI Questions

I've never seen the AI give a useless item to a commander, nearly all of them provide a benefit in some way.

Re: Holy magic for Pretenders

Perhaps simply having a pretender grant X spells, and the holy level of the priest dictating what may be cast might be better. In other words, holy spells become similar to any other magic path,...

Re: Well...talk about an intimidating game!

They're the middle ground really. Having an SC pretender can be useful in the early game, but by the late game they're either surpassed or so crippled they're useless. The Crone and the like are...

Re: Are Clams worth empowering for?

The value is always relative. First thing to ask yourself is whether you have anything else to be spending those nature gems on.
Secondly, how long are you likely to be without a pearl income?...

Re: The Ages

I don't think nation choice makes too much of a difference, as long as there aren't any radical specialisations (Ashen Empire for example). One of the good things about Dominions is (for the most...

Re: Morale Problems

AFAIK Vista would require a format/install, it won't upgrade from XP. Upgrading from one Vista version to another shouldn't cause any problems, all the new licence key does is unlock certain services...

Probably, but it's nice to give people the benefit of the doubt http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Problem With Single Player

Wonder if it might help to set the key file to read only once you've inputted the key. Might stop the corruption problems under Windows. Don't know if it would affect the running of the game though,...

Re: *TWO PEOPLE* created (most of) this game?!?

Console wise I think the problem is the cost of the basic unit. As the prices for the console themselves rise, people's expectations go up, yet the games remain the same (once you get over the shiny...

Re: *TWO PEOPLE* created (most of) this game?!?

Even in huge teams there's usually only one or two people in charge of the game design. Everyone else is employed in making all those detailed textures and spangly effects, or just code crunching.

Re: AWIY\'s blacklist of dishonest peoples

Well, if you know you're going to lose in one game then there's not really that big a problem to calling it quits, unless you own most of the provinces. If the game is at a point where you have two...

Re: AWIY\'s blacklist of dishonest peoples

Quitting the game because you're losing is just being a bad sport, or impolite. Again though it depends, if the player gives advance warning or otherwise states that they're going to leave fair...

Re: C\'Tis - Miasma, Question about cold blodded

Might be an idea to remove the pretenders who will get diseased from the selection screen for Ctis MA. Not sure about giving them more though, imho Miasma plus those already available should be...

Re: Never ask a lady her age

Perhaps a little more accurately, a broader, deeper game with multiplayer which happily fits into those small time slices that occur when juggling job, kids, wife and similar.

Oh, I'm 28 and...

Re: Musing on weapons tweaks...

The thing is, from a historical perspective men in plate wore padding underneath the armour precisely to mitigate the effects of blunt weapons.
Looking at it from a historical perspective doesn't...

Re: Dragon Size & Max

I've always thought the size rating was comparitive rather than absolute. In other words, size 2 or so is around man height, size 1 is tiny (child, small dog, rodents etc) and size 6 is "large enough...

Re: Lots of anti-Agartha opinions in MP?

I think Agartha is pretty much the classic turtling nation to be honest, at least EA and MA. You'll struggle against an early rush, but if you can keep the wolves from the door (diplomatically,...

Re: Single Player Rant

Pretty much sums up the kind of attitude that causes the problem to be honest. What makes you think the balance of Vans is unique to multiplayer? Furthermore, why should multiplayer balance be given...

Re: A general inquiry about Dom 3 gaming habits.

My favourite so far was my cyclops pretender:

"Bwa Hah, Me crush puny flying thing!"
"Ooh look, puny flying thing has shiny eye, me likes shiny things"
<splut>
"Why it all gone dark?"

Then...

Re: Site-searching question

As far as I know most sites are level 2, with one or two per school which are level 3.

Whether it's worth casting spells depends on the site frequency set at the start of the game. A high...

Re: A general inquiry about Dom 3 gaming habits.

I prefer to come up with the perfect, unbeatable plan, then deviate from it as much as possible until my inevitable defeat.

Failing that, I often enjoy setting little challenges for myself. Like...

Re: New Nation Suggestion

One of the first things I noticed when looking in the nations for Doms 2. Where's the 40 nights, Sindbad style influence?
