Re: Problem With Single Player
Bad or corrupt key file.
Reinstall the game or contact Shrapnel support.

Re: Problem With Single Player
{longer answer]
Because its a PbEM game, the security checks come when it hosts a turn (in other words the game is already started). Thats the games basic response to seeing a bad key.
Certain actions on your machine can corrupt your keyfile. Delete the file in your dominions directory that is named "key" and then restart Dom3. It will ask you for the key from your manual.
If that doesnt work then contact Shrapnel and they can help you out.

Re: Problem With Single Player
It should be in the FAQ, which is stickied.
As for patience, I tend to notepad alot of my answers and then slightly modify it each time I paste it in.

Re: Problem With Single Player
The problem is his dog ate his manual. Is it available for electronic download anywhere? Failing that, I have some demands for the next patch - Improved graphics. Look at Company of Heroes, the graphics there are a good starting point. Also you should be able to issue commands in battle.
Heh.

It is now. I get just as tired of these questions as everyone else.
From this point forward, anytime the question of the disappearing user interface comes up, direct people to the FAQ, this thing is the first one in there now. DO NOT provide them with any other answers. They can use the answers in the FAQ to sort it out and go through proper channels to get tech support.

Re: Problem With Single Player
Wonder if it might help to set the key file to read only once you've inputted the key. Might stop the corruption problems under Windows. Don't know if it would affect the running of the game though, and I'm not at home to check.

Re: Problem With Single Player
I would gess that about 99% of the cd-key problems are not about file corruption, but about not to have one in the first place.
