You can assassinate indy commanders, and then move in a single commander to take over the province. Notice that indies usually have 2-3 commanders per province. Not really a viable strategy as such,...

Now that you mention it, it has always bugged me why colour is color half the time in Dom3... The Sword of Many Colors, national color etc. Then again, colour is used for stuff like skin colour...

I did some tests with CBM 1.82 and the Carrion Dragon. For those who are not aware, in CBM 1.82 Carrion Dragon got a Vine Shield like ability.

Why so complicated answers, when the answer is very simple? Massed slingers and/or archers is the simple answer. No matter if the target have shields or not, 100 slingshots per will be the solution :)

At 90 gems it is not quick for LA Pangaea. At 90 nature gems it is retarded for LA Pan; just because it is equally retarded in vanilla game doesn't make it less retarded in CBM ;)
