Turning out colony ships quickly is important in the beginning stages for establishing in-system colonies and grabbing neighbouring systems. Even a 1-2 turn lead can become significant if it allows...

A sad day indeed. Not only did EGG have a huge initial influence on fantasy RPG but many related hobbies (LRPG, PBM, CRPG) would likely have gone in different ways without his (and Dave Arneson's)...

Does that mean that it could have done an activation check then? The way to be sure is to see if it tries to connect online when you install or apply a (previously downloaded) update offline.

I tried SEV on a Flybook (1024x600 resolution, ATI Radeon 200M chipset) and it would only show a grey screen (though the background music started, suggesting that the program was otherwise OK).

One idea has just occured to me after looking at the screenshots. Some of the textures include cloud cover so might it be feasible to use different coloured clouds to indicate atmosphere type along...

The only comparable option to a Windows reinstall (which doesn't itself require a reformat) is to try to remove obsolete files and registry entries manually - and deleting the wrong ones could...
