Re: OT, Stardock\'s MOM influenced game news

Simultaneous turns in multiplayer? Massive battles, creatures that can wipe out whole armies? Choosing between powerful troops and a powerful initial character? Sounds like it's been influenced by...

Re: Golems: how do I make them work?

Gee, I thought the whole point of golems was to teleport them on top of fleeing sages and Lore Masters http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif...

Re: Frst time playing Ea Tir na n\'Og a few questio

The Baobhan Sidhe are really cool assassins once you've researched Lightning Bolt. In a pinch, they also do well massed with Storm Power + a Storm caster, easily recruited from the Sorceresses.

I...

Re: World of Warhammer - Released!

I've recently played a big single-player game starting in the weird circle-island thingy as Tir na n'og. It was a blast invading the "old world"!

Re: Avernum, The Awakening v1.4 RELEASED

I have a soft spot for this mod. Maybe it's the archer kitties!

Re: General Help for a not quite Beginner

1. I like Early Age because it has more magic. I suppose if you wanted to prepare for multiplayer, Early and Middle age would be best. According to the Victorious Nations post, there have been 22...

Re: Dominions 3 price

It's worth it. Don't forget that this game is not a piece of EA shovelware; it's a high-quality independent masterpiece of the genre, and it has paid for itself many times for many people including...

Re: 3.14 Scouts improvement

My scouts are ALWAYS getting caught. You'd think they could last one turn going through a big province; it's easier to hide among lots of people, isn't it?

Re: Patch

It's not that big a deal, especial for PBEM... it takes less than half a gig for me, and I have every user-made mod and map I could find. Just copy the old version to the desktop before you patch,...

Re: Which Mod Nations are Ready for Prime Time?

Ulm Reborn is completely unlike the traditional Ulm in terms of how the gameplay feels. It's mainly the storyline (I think) that requires it to be Ulm. It's very cool in my opinion, and won the only...

Re: General Dominions 3 comparison...

One thing I don't think has been said is the combat. GalCiv and Civ 4 have absolutely NOTHING on the combat model. Who cares about a simple stack of spearmen duking it out for a city compared to...

Re: General Dominions 3 comparison...

It's more of a wargame and/or board game than a 4X, which you seem to be looking to compare. I'm pretty confident in saying it's like nothing you've ever played in terms of complexity and depth....

Re: A mod to improve troop commanders

The new mod commands might be great for introducing new ways to make national commanders worth recruiting. Imagine if that Bandar commander got one casting of Strength of Giants, or your Ulmish...

Re: The AI Pretender design is insane!

Even Checkers and Connect Four have been "solved". That means there is no way for an AI programmed correctly to lose. These are much simpler games, though.

Re: Slow running game, questions

My game runs horribly with the background animations on with my 512MB 8800 GT on Vista, with 2 gigs of ram. Go figure. At least I can turn them off, but it's ridiculous to have better performance...

Re: New Map: Pangaea

I'm looking forward to it!

I don't mind weirdly balanced maps, especially for single-player. I mean, look how many people play Aran, and that's not balanced at all.

Re: The AI Pretender design is insane!

I always hear about people putting in custom gods for the AI, but nobody ever posts that section of their map file. Come on, it can't be that long. I'm curious what people think would be a good AI...
