I checked my OOBs folder properties (size in bytes, and number of files) against a fresh install I have on my laptop, and there was a difference!

PBEM basic security OOB Warning

New ver 4.0 feature:

12) When playing PBEM in basic security mode the game will now simply warn players if the OOBs differ from the original without aborting the game.

I think it was based on an early version of WinSPMBT. I'm quite sure it had its own sounds.

As for your "patrol boats sounding like trucks". Sound 34 is used by just about all wheeled vehicles...

I have an Acrobat 'write' version, which I rarely use, so I just created a PDF game guide. It was surprisingly easy and only took about 2 minutes. I guess there should be some benefit for all that...

WWII wasn't really fought in North America

It was mostly in the Soviet Union and other damp and rainy parts of Europe. And North Africa, well...they had plenty of sand to throw on the fires ;) ...

Because it's in html, I find the Explorer menu bar, EDIT...FIND ON THIS PAGE (Hotkey Ctrl F) works quite well for searching. Particularly as most of guide is in a couple of very long pages.

Sand Dunes

Soft sand is also called 'sand dunes' in the game guide, not ‘quick sand’ - and the fact that this terrain can easily immobilize vehicles - doesn't suggest low undulating/rolling...

I agree with some others on this thread; I typically prefer to use a one to three ratio. One tank company supporting about three infantry companies. Or one tank platoon supporting one infantry...

A 'Front Line Battle' would have:


Close to centre start lines
Even points...
