Re: Vote

I think this post best sums my views. A perfectly balanced game is boring. A nearly balanced game is chess, but how many people talk about the last thrilling game of chess they played? What people...

Re: Vote

I voted to keep hammers and sites, I did not vote on the others as they are dependent upon one another. If you keep gem gens, you need to keep SDRs, and vice versa.

I think sites are necessary...

What is your favorite nation and why?

Since I've been in a rut, I figured I would start this to see if anyone can get the juices flowing.

My favorite nation is Caelum. In a fantasy game, I love the Caelum theme. The feeling I get...

Re: BearTrap - Early age game (Looking for one more land nation player)

How experienced are the players in this game? I am a quasi-vet. I guess I'll take EA Ermor or Arco, need to firm it up.

Re: Massing Scouts

Black Servants are one option I use. Unfortunately, I am playing Caelum in this game and do not have any death income yet. Astral spells are nice, but I don't have the astral mages to cast the...

Massing Scouts

Adequate scouting is huge in Dominions. My question is how do you get critical scout mass when you don't have any provinces that produce scouts?

Re: Help Design my EA TC Setup?.(CBM 1.71)

Do not underestimate the W5E. They are one of the few units that get better as the game goes on. You have the mage power to make them immune to everything! You can have the mages to give them...

Re: In a bit of a rut...

I wasn't sure what to do with EA Vanheim. They were the first nation I played, and I used to run a F9W9 bless, but after having more experience under my belt, I'm not sure how to play them where...

Re: Help Design my EA TC Setup?.(CBM 1.71)

Don't the demons of heavenly fires have 0 prot? Everytime I used them, they dropped like flies. Or are they supposed to sit back like archers?

Re: Help Design my EA TC Setup?.(CBM 1.71)

Keep in mind, TC is one of the prime candidates for going with Turmoil 3. There is no real need for Order with them. I would say luck is a huge plus, production is nice, but not essential. I would...

Re: In a bit of a rut...

Isn't fomoria a bit of a cross between Helheim and Niefelheim? You have glamored troops with some giants sprinkled in?

Re: Help Design my EA TC Setup?.(CBM 1.71)

I would say take W9 for quickness, shorten the time they are exposed to the arrows, and the extra attacks don't hurt either. Take luck, hope you get the man with the iron crutch so you can bootstrap...

Re: In a bit of a rut...

hat's what I've done. Nothing popping out at me though. I prefer EA over the other eras.

In a bit of a rut...

I've gotten into a bit of an MP rut. I've been playing quite a bit of Marverni, EA Caelum, and MA Marignon in my MP games. I'm looking for something a bit different to play. I was looking to play...

Re: 5 player maps

Selected start positions and variation are probably my top two items. Balance is nice, but let's face it, the fun in Dom3 is creating your own balance.

Re: CBM 1.7 released

I'm not sure I agree with some of the changes. I think the dwarven hammer is a huge change that will cascade through the game.

I love some of the things that CBM has done, but I scratch my head...

Re: MA Marignon... Any thoughts?

I would also point you in the direction of some of the recent Abysia guides for EA, as they apply in some ways to MA Marignon. The key to MA Marignon is surviving the early game. If you can, you...

Re: scouts in early age

I really don't know, Caelum seems like a fairly good counter to TNN.

Flying units break castles extremely quickly, faster than the enemy can mobilize units to a given corner of the map.

Death...

Re: The politics of losing

The more I play, the more I feel the sweet spot is to have games with 6-8 players. Most nations are viable, and you don't have the 150+ turn games. You also don't have terrible micro because at...

Re: The politics of losing

I've got a game past turn 150. And it's a pretty long one and I wonder whether it'll ever finish.
I've seen several games where the balance of power is clearly in favor of one or two and the rest...
