Re: Early HEAT for Soviet tanks...
From what I recall from discussions on tanknet BK-5 - BK-5M had rather different performance, it was something like 280mm - 380mm (BK-5M incorporated a wave shaper). BK-5 was also available earlier,...

They seem common sense modifications. They get rid of the Sagger launcher, useless by now for all practical purposes, and get rid of some crap. No point in breathing asbestos if there is some...

Re: Early HEAT for Soviet tanks...
Giving a look at the russian OOB, I see the problem. Probably to save the scarce weapons slots T-34s have been armed with antitank guns. Works ok with the D-44,not so great with the D-48.The only...

Re: Early HEAT for Soviet tanks...
As far as I have read the D-48 was an attempt at producing a lighter/better antitank gun than the BS-3 100mm. It uses a cartridge derived from that of the BS-3 ammunition but with an 85mm projectile....

Re: Early HEAT for Soviet tanks...
There was a BK-2M - penetration 300mm RHA IIRC - which was probablymeant for both D-44 guns and T-34/85s. The iraqis had some of them, so it got around. I imagine ballistc performace would have been...

Should tank crews be better armed?

Re: Should tank crews be better armed?
A problem I see with arming crews is that while currently a single crew in the OOB is sufficient, as pistol an hand grenades are generic and thus suffice for the 1946-2020 timeframe, an additional...

Re: M734 Multi-Option Fuze
I ran into this same problem a few years ago and as far I can tell there is no easy answer. Some detailed analysis can be found in a report titled "Iraq: Proximity Fuses found on 107mm Rockets" that...

Re: M734 Multi-Option Fuze
I remember reading a study on the effect on proxy fuzes a long time ago. IIRC the increase in lethality, compared to contact fuzes, varies widely depending on target disposition. The greatest...

Re: Treebursts
There are some artillery pieces equipped with proxy fuzes in the game. They are labelled as VT and have greater HE kill values.
Aside from that they do not differ from normal artillery, they create...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.
To be fair by 1996 the impact and ubiquitousness of JDAMs was yet to be appreciated. PGMs have gone from being a specialized weapon to be the standard attack munition.

Re: Fixes for the iraqi OOB
Carry capacity is somewhat an abstract affair. For example in real life you could split an infantry squad between two armored Humwees, in the game it is not possible.

No idea. I would suspect it is just a carryover from polish OOB or whatever other OOB the OT-64 were picked from. The armored threat on the iranian front was less than in Europe to warrant such,...

Re: Anomaly reports
It is believed to be used from prepared emplacements, as it requires an external power supply. Likely associated to radar targeting and similar gear. So perhaps it might be justifiable.
