Re: OT: Starcraft II and Elemental

I'm looking forward to Starcraft 2. I haven't bought my copy yet, but I'm on my 3rd copy of the original, so I'll be very happy with "more of the same" in the form of a good update.

Re: Vanarus, Machaka Lion Kings etc

Actually, I get the strong impression that Machaka is based on the pulps. As in, King Solomon's Mines (or atleast Solomon Kane).

Not true to African mythology, ofcourse, but then neither is...

Re: Yet another new person with a question...

I don't think it's an issue with EA Tien Ch'i. It doesn't really matter what units you decide to make, despite their diverse equipment (hint: it's not really that diverse). Build enough of whatever,...

Re: Vanarus, Machaka Lion Kings etc

I guess Kristoffer is still considering the idea of someday adding Muspelheim. If so, it probably won't be for a long time...

Re: Ul'Darath EA. (work in progress)

I was thinking about a Perkuns unit, and I think it would be a flying chariot (flying trampler) with fire or shock aura, and a Patrol bonus of maybe 5.

Re: what about the future?

I don't know if this is meant to be a serious statement, but I've never felt to be "insulted" by Shrapnel Games, and that's coming from someone who's a pretty touchy guy, without a lot of shiny happy...

If you want a Nation that's good for teaching...

If you want a Nation that's good for teaching basic Dom 101, I would recommend EA Tien Chi.

It's humans with diverse equipment, all of which is useful in it's own way. The Sacreds are powerful,...

Better than I am![/quote]

I never gave up the hope that the waveforms for all these great potential contributions would finally be collapsing into something more material.

And I...

Re: A few thoughts on MA Arcoscephale

Necroing isn't really an entirely bad thing, as such. It keeps the boards from becoming overcrowded, makes searching easier, and holds ideas together in one place.

A good idea can be an...

Re: Ul'Darath EA. (work in progress)

Which ofcourse suggests a direct Latvian-inspired mod.

Go Perkuns!

Re: what about the future?

There are things about Dom3 that make it great, that are tradeoffs which naturally reduce the player base (graphics, the learning curve, historical mythology instead of generic fantasy), and then...

Re: Best Roleplay nation

Yomi's one of my very favorites, although I wish a bit more had been done with them, to make them more competitive, or atleast more strategically dimensional. The whole idea of Asian...

Re: Best Roleplay nation

Yomi is always fun, because yeah they're supposed to be evil demons, but they're also the underdogs. They're also so inept that you can't really expect rule by them to be as harsh as, say, Hinnom or...

Re: New to Dom 3

I have to say, I loathe their download "system".

Originally, yes, it was great--you could download the game directly off of their site, with the CD key. No muss, no fuss. Worthy of duplication,...

Re: New to Dom 3

Gandalf: It is a "more than a one month" game, in that you apparently have to wait "more than one month" after you purchase it, for the devs to render it playable.

While that's happening,...

Re: Ul'Darath EA. (work in progress)

You could always go with Lemuria or Mu, two other, lesser-known parallels to Atlantis. Both were present in real-world mythology, and both had similar stories of being great Nations that were sunk...

Re: Underwater Defence?

Such a thing wouldn't be any more abusable than any other summonable.

If you want to be really harsh, in terms of balance, you could always require multiple one-way shapeshifting, to improve the...

Re: Ul'Darath EA. (work in progress)

How about not just an old city, but a ruined one?

Maybe even the ruins of Atlantis, destroyed by the Pantokrator in an age beyond memory, now risen once more from the depths?

And maybe it's...

Oh I didn't mean physically eat mages. I meant you'd assign mages the task of summoning the critters, using up their time, and potentially putting them, physically, in a vulnerable position on the...

Re: Pretender design for Yomi

Not complaining, but I'm a little surprised that there's no Oni Pretender... If there was, it might be something we'd all ignore in favor of Great Sages, and the like, but for the roleplaying aspect,...

Re: what about the future?

Gandalf is very good at this, and does deserve a lot of credit for it. It's a lot easier to tear a conversation apart than it is to keep it together, nor is it always very satisfying to maintain
a...
