Aegis comes to mind. If memory serves, the petrification effect is triggered even if an attacker is stopped by Awe -- the attempt is sufficient.

Awe + the natural chilling aura of a Niefel Jarl...

There's also 'Horror Seed', a nasty ritual which causes the victim to be a contagious horror-marker, essentially. And the victims sprout lesser horrors if and when they die in battle, if memory...

Well, you do have to be careful. It's not necessarily wise to have your pretenders or other commanders you really want to want to preserve get horror-marked, for instance, since horror marks stick...

I seem to recall hearing that the Fun mode had been beaten, but only by juggling. You did need to go heavy on boosted storm towers to kill the fliers.

As long as we're on hypotheticals here, I wouldn't mind seeing a way to employ a non-square formation for a squad (in particular, a row formation would sometimes make much more sense).

Might be worth noting that while your mages tend towards the old, you do have a national ritual ('Inner Alchemy') that can reduce age. The usual 'ring of regeneration to stave off death by disease'...
