Re: Which nations represent order and good?

Isn't LA Patala a small cadre of otherworldly serpents who rule their monkey underclass through hypnotism?

Re: \"Recruitment fixes\" in changelog

Sounds like good stuff; it may not be flagrantly visible in action, but it sounds like a meaningful improvement.

I await someday no longer having to use Better Independents, but three cheers for...

\"Recruitment fixes\" in changelog

27th april
* Missing spell descr fixed.
* AI nonpriests no longer preaches instead of tearing down walls in sieges.
* Some recruitment fixes for the AI.

I'm curious- what do these "recruitment...

Re: Strands of Astral Power. Worth it?

I wonder if you need(ed) to have the penetration items equipped when casting the ritual? Anyone got the time to test?

Re: The problem of fort types

Personally, I think the two proposed solutions that're actually viable are the following.

1) Alter the fort data so that forts differ less steeply in cost/admin/etc.
2) Give players some control...

Re: Underwater fire?

The charcoal shield seems like a mistake because it's inconsistent- the spell doesn't work, but an item generating the spell does work. "They're different" arguments seem deflated by the way both...

Re: Medusa Sheild is killing blind and undead, bug

They have substance, it's just ethereal. "Ethereal" is not "nonexistent." Remember, you can chop up a ghost with swords, it's just harder to do so. Petrification is a magical event, not a physical...

Re: New Player Questions, EAPangaea, Rainbow Mage,

A or S are big benefits for the Gorgon, for Cloud Trapeze/Teleport. No amount of flying strat move is as valuable as the ability to pop in before army movement... if she's flying, you have to...

Re: NAP Breach?

This is precisely the sort of situation where Real Diplomacy comes into play. It's worming around the edges of what a NAP does (or doesn't) mean, eithjer interpretation could be seen as valid. All...

Re: Which nations represent order and good?

Personally, I consider LA Man to be one of the most positive socities, in terms of internal benevolence (benefits for own people) and a lack of any major sketchy practices (e.g. institutionalized...

Re: AI Helper Builds

However, "difficulty" setting does not affect AI behavior- it instead gives the AI bonus creation points, gold, research, etc. A well-designed pretender might more than make up the difference.

Re: Feeblemind harder to cure?

Feeblemind is indeed a tough one, I had a Gorgon SC get Botulfed, and she had to sit out at least a half-dozen turns before it wore off even with Recuperation and Gift of Health.

Re: Scales/bless changes you would like

That way it's too strong; in Dom2, a positive magic scale was practically mandatory. But I think a better variant might be:

Make half research points count. Then the RP bonuses can be 0.5/1/1.5...

Re: Scales/bless changes you would like

Now, I like the theoretical idea of having something to do with leftover points. However, permanent bonuses to your pretender of any kind would be a bad bad plan. Just think of the SCs you could...

Re: MA Pangaea strategies

As an addition, keep in mind the viability of dominion victories: you have stacks of high-stealth H2 priests. to use I won a MP game once with a N4E4A4 Dom9 gorgon; I believe my scales were Turmoil...

Maps and Pretender Creation

If you start a new game on a map with no water starts, the water nations' names are greyed out on the nation selection screen, sure.

However, if you then exit that game and go to the "Create...

I actually find she's just as good casting Mistform and charging into melee. With a Life Drain weapon and natural Mirror Image, she's pretty solid even with no/minimal gear, and does much better...

Re: Completing SP Games

I finish almost all my SP games, but that's largely because I've figured out how to properly calibrate my victory conditions. I tend to go with "1 VP per capital", and set the needed VP to half the...

Re: Shroud of the Battle Saint question

No it isn't. Put him alone in a province and cast two spells at him! Seeking Arrow should do the trick, but use a low-hp commander (and probably an unarmored prophet instead of someone in a...

Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs

Are you sure? I mean, IIRC it creates an "Ark" battle-enchantment effect... which has some things in common with SB, but is nowhere near identical in effect or theme. I suppose an "Ark doesn't work...

Re: The City of the Damned

I had one of the unique tomes pop out once, and one turn with 2000+ gold. Most successes provided only a few dozen gold. But I had horror attacks instead of undead attacks, which was rough,

I...

Re: Haste

Even if so, Haste is still useful. Your attacks/fatigue ratio is the same, but you get the same number of attacks in more quickly, before you get swarmed in return.

Re: Haste

I also find it occasionally useful for fortress-storming; it can help your troops rush through the narrow gates first and avoid a bottleneck.
